Saturday Oct 13th at noon looks like the date now.
We have a large group of 10 players already and a few visitors from the forumini who might come so at the minimum I am expecting 6 people and 13 would be about the most I would expect though the more the merrier.
I am thinking of making it a “Euro” centric tourney (so you can be Germany,Italy, UK , France or Russia) without the US or IJN and will probably consist of things such as
bring an axis nation and allied nation fleet
No 6 hull BB’s

They should never have attacked Russia in the first place, if russia attacked them its a totally different situation the russian populace wouldn’t have the same malice/wanting revenge and if the russians failed maybe they could sue for peace.
Efforts should have been focused on bringing down the UK either by more efforts towards the battle of britain or raeder’s plan to bring it down by attacking its colonies and cutting off the supply.

The invasion of Norway a WAS scenario
This is a work in progress and abstract in some terms ( historically) for the sake of gameplay this might be able to be revised to do a malta type battle as well.
There is 2 player sides UK vs Germany as well as a neutral Norway that will come into play. The UK and Germany will each have 200 pts they must select those 200 pts from the Battle of narvik (1 and 2) as well as the ships involved in the operation. Some units such as air can be selected as long as the air year limit matches (1940 and older).

If you want to use other norwegian units (there were some DD’s used) you may do so but deploy them similarly and spread them out the same.
The norwegian BB’s deploy in the center of the map evenly spread out they don’t move and each player can fire them at the opposing fleet once per turn (like how you would normally control a ships guns).
The UK fleet starting point is on the square A1 and the Germany starting point is on the square G1 (yes the same side of the map!) the fleets don’t deploy there but use those squares as the first point of movement when moving there ships on the first turn and placing them on the map.
If you use an oscarborg deploy it on the other side of the map on D11.
The object of the game is to get your ships to the other side of the map which represents the land areas of Norway that you are trying to invade. Just like how each german warship carried troops for the invasion each ship both UK and german upon reaching the square row 11 (the last water row on the map) may instead of moving declare that they are deploying there invasion forces for a total of 20 victory points per ship doing so. The nation that has the most victory points occupies Norway and wins the match.
Because of the deployment the 2 sides will be fighting each other while racing to get to norway first to occupy it and will come across the norwegian fleet that each of them will be able to use (the weapons on them) to attack the other, it should make for some interesting dynamics and hopefully a good game.

from another source “The Painter’s Guide to World War Two Naval Camouflage.” For the French it says:
Hulls: dark grey
Upper works: light grey
Decks: dark greyShips operating with U.S. or British forces wore the appropriate U.S. or British camo pattern.
for french ships also atlantic operation ones were darker grey in the med they were lighter.
the measures are listed here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_camouflage I would imagine its something similar to measure 11 the colour meaning to blend into the ocean even though the colour of the WAS ships is sort of turqois.

OK, so I started buying up a bunch of AAM to possibly use as “Task Force Markers” on a big-board AA variant and as an educational reference point for my students (to teach them about different ships, tanks, planes, etc.) and who knows, maybe I’ll even try AAM gaming too…
…and when they arrive, to my horror, I find that my Comet is tiny compared to my Cromwell, my Sherman firefly is way smaller than my regular Sherman, my Pershing seems awfully small, too, and my IS-2 and Centurion dwarf everything else by way too much a margin to reflect reality… OK, so clearly they haven’t kept consistent scale here. I know this is probably a newbie question, but is there some way that I can cross check different units and their actual scales so that I can know before I buy them which units look like they belong on the same gaming table together?
first 5 sets I believe had a loose scale vehicle wise they are referred to V1 and are around the 10mm mark
The next 5 sets or so are referred to as V2 and had a consistant scale around the 15mm mark.
The sets you would want with the bigger scale consistant vehicles are 1939-1945, north africa, eastern front, early war, counter offensive.

this is the me 262 I found in the same scale.
So where DID you find that me 262?
That me 262 is an italeri model I found on ebay in the same scale (the company is italian and while there is only like 2 pieces to assemble the instructions are italian lol). There isn’t a ME 262 unit in A20 but there is stats with the A20 units that work with AAM the land game and there is a me 262 with that so I will probably make a card for it in a20 and use the existing one in AAM.
So to clarify A20/was/aam all have different scales but……
A20 units can be used in AAM and though the AAM existing planes are a different scale the A20 is 1/100 the actual same scale that the AAM land units are.
The reason that WAS uses 1:900 planes when the ships are 1:1800 and AAM planes are like something similar to 1:240 compared to the 1:100 AAM is purely for game reason . WAS because the planes would be too small and AAM because they feared the planes would be too big, this is probably confusing which I apologize.

I have played 2 Pacific carrier battle scenario games which were fun
points and year limit is up to you it plays best with the IJN vs USN, the first person to destroy the others carriers wins. Pretty simple and you can bring as many carriers as you like but its good to find a balance otherwise you will have too many carriers not enough planes or vice versa and lose.

Fleet auxiliary scenario (WAS)
This scenario tries to imitate the roles Auxiliaries had with fleets they accompanied and supplied/fueled the fleet making them very vital.
Consider this a Auxiliary Battlefield condition that takes effect throughout the game:
A ship within 3 spaces of a friendly auxiliary MAY, reduce its slow effect by 1 (for example if the ship is slow 1 it now doesnt have slow or if its slow 2 its now slow 1 it cannot increase its speed past 2 with this SA).
A ship within 3 spaces of a friendly auxiliary MAY, reroll a gunnery attack die while making an attack (for example I roll 6 dice making a gunnery or AA attack 1 of them miss so I reroll the die that missed for that attack).
Each auxiliary ship can contribute 1 of these SA’s once per turn.
Also a part of the battlefield condition is the negatives that occur if you don’t have auxiliaries present :
If no friendly auxiliaries are present on the map ships now have slow +1 (example if you were slow 1 before your now slow 2 if you weren’t slow your now slow 1)
If no friendly auxiliaries are present on the map ships must reroll a successful attack die during a gunnery or AA attack once per turn per ship.
If no friendly auxiliaries are present on the map aircraft when returning to the landbase or carrier must roll a die on a result of 1 they get + 1 rearming tokens added to them.
You can play this in whatever point format you desire and can have as many auxiliaries as you wish (OOB format is recommended though not needed).
If nothing else I think there would be extra strategy from this with the way you would have to maneuver and coordinate your fleet.

yeah I just received mine and they look great it looks like the indefatiguable card is damaged in each pack but for 6.00 the whole thing is an amazing deal.
I own those litko airfields and agree with you that they are quite nice and will make good proxies for the fwd airstrip unit card that comes in the pack.
I say one more 72 card pack like that and you can pretty much call WAS complete there may not be something of every unit but as long as each class has a card you can proxy for sisters.
