Of course, my Russia 1 move last night in a Warclub Ladder game makes curse real dice!  I did my usual West Russia/Ukraine attack.  My opponent had no extra units in Europe from the bid, so I liked my chances.  And though I did win both, when all was said and done I had lost 8 of my 9 Inf in WR.  OUCH!!!  The dice simulator said the chances of that (or worse) are less than 3%.

Boy, do I have a huge hole to dig myself out of.

Despite the fact that Low/No Luck would have worked out much better for me on R1 this game, I still go with the real dice.  But after that battle I did reconsider the choice for awhile….

Europe for the GER player, was the most boring time experience ever! You prayed for the pizza to arrive.

Yeah, that is kinda wonky.  But no more so than some of the other abstractions the game makes.

3 cats, an active 8 month old, and a wife who’d rather play D&D keeps me from doing the same thing, otherwise mine would be set up in blissful perpetuity as well…

Russia is the funnest for me because IMO it’s funner to save your own ass rather than someone elses.

I still think the cost is too high for Russia.  You loose your fighters, at least 1, Germany should have bid extra into Egypt so they have plenty to take and close the canal, they have neough to sink the BB in Gibraltar and can still make serious threats on Russian land, especially with the loss of 6-8 units for Russia’s defense.

Yea, the Med fleet is destroyed, probably.  But that only nets England about 6 IPCs, maybe 7 and cost Russia 24-44 IPCs to do.

It’s a pitty to see that Bobbychicken is indeed a machine in his strategies (you use this word yourself)…

your dad and you can as well play the game solo, while you both do nothing to surprise your opponent with strats…

I love playing without techs because with heavy bombers in the game, the dice is rolled (allia iacta est - latin).
If USA has them? Allies win the game, so simple as that! so, no fun in accomplishing something everyone knows to be the outcome!

Maybe you could make a thread about your strategy.  Unless your waiting to unleash it against one of the people here?

Never.  Never build an IC with Germany.

Two transports cost 1 IPC more.  They can shuttle four units into Ukraine a turn, or can hit Egypt.  Transports make the Allies require more time to hit the German med fleet with pure air, and if the Allies draw within two spaces of the Med fleet, the Med fleet can suicide along with German air to kill the Allied fleet.

Early game, you don’t need an IC, transports are better.  Late game, you can’t afford one.

I meant to add that… the fun ends for the German navy pretty quickly…

The Carrier is a nice addition. After years of resistance I’ve dropped my pride and in my current game added one. Although I lost my Baltic fleet on U.S.4, it allowed me to control the north against determined Allied play through G4. I could have devoted more IPCs and held it longer, but I cut my losses and pulled my Ftrs. More meat and potatoes were needed.

So I’ve finally seen the  light- the G1 Carrier/ 8 Inf build is solid…damn you all…

I’m going to make sure the US gets that one next game :lol:.  Looks like I’ve hijacked this thread.  Oh, and btw, Salmon is also very good raw.  A true Japanese player eats sushi around J2!

I’m sorry to inform you, but I CAN’T believe this is true!!!
I had the vote counters set to zero again, 'cause I really think people who vote should make at least a calculation rather than an estimation
you can be fooled pretty quickly the way battles get really expensive…
and please give the people some feedback on how that battle got so expensive…

that’s 20 armors (totalling 100 IPC’s) against 20 infantry and 4 figs (totalling 100 as well) for example…

204 IPC’s?
that’s 2 bombers, 6 figs, 10 inf and 6 art (totalling 144 IPC’s) against 20 infantry (totalling 60 IPC’s).

I can’t believe at all that my opponent and I had the most expensive battle ever…  :-o
how do you guys manage to capture Russia if there is not something near 200 IPC’s at stake (see example 2)??
