      @Anzac:

      Hey guys started playing BOTB again… When attacking can you attack as many times as you like. For example when usa has made all attacks you pass the inititive to the german player. After germany has done all attacks can you then attack again with usa? And then continue with germany again. Just bit confused about what it says in the rule book… Thanks guys

      The player with initiative gets to declare and perform the first attack. Then the other player may declare and perform an attack. The option then passes back to the player with initiative. When both players pass consecutively you move on to the next phase. Each hex may only be activated for attacks once. All of your hexes may attack if you have sufficient supplies. On the first turn only Germany may perform attacks. (See Phase 2 beginning on page 14 of the rulebook: http://www.axisandallies.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Axis-Allies-Battle-of-the-Bulge.pdf)

      All of these attacks make up a single turn of attacks.

      DO NOT bring rules baggage from other games into BOTB to resolve any confusion or questions you have. You will be incorrect.  🙂

      Blacky’s WW1 map looks like it has The Great War map from TripleA as a base, then he probably used photoshop or similar software to change it.

      Sundown kid is correct. Units don’t get locked in combat. Note also that if you’ve built the airfield with supplies you control you score the point even if you don’t control the island.

      Hey guys… I got a question for battle of owkinawa. First turn is that you go through steps B-Q, then starting from 2nd turn, if the USA wins the combat inititive do you go through steps B-Q again, where the japanese launch there kamakazi strikes? Or is that only when japan win inititive when they launch there free strikes? then you go through stages I-Q?.. Thanks

      Ive been getting confused a bit so i have some questions. At the start it says start on B and end at Q. On the 2nd turn go through I,J,K. My question is is there another bombing phase for the Usa? And if the japanese get the upper hand on dice roll and place a kamakazie on a ship, is there any dog fighting and A&A phase? Or just stick with moving troops from I,J,K to Q? The japanese get 4 kamakazie per air base they control, if i put a USA fighter onto a japanese air base does that mean there will be dog fights? Thanks hope you can help

      @DessertFox599:

      Can you show in the rules where that is?

      Sorry DessertFox, it is not in the rules. I was speaking to Anzac Defender, who was talking about House Ruling new units to a captured capital.
      I did not mean to confuse anyone.

      Hi ANZAC.  For the HBG 1939 map, think of a 4x8 sheet of plywood.  Its is HUGE and awesome.  You need a big room for that size table plus room to walk around on all 4 sides.  I only played the 1939 game one time and I can say it is definitely superior in a hundred different ways, but playing it is an order of magnitude more complex than global 1940.  Global 1940 seems like the kiddie game next to it, which is nuts because global 1940 is not an easy game by any means.  I’d say your best bet is to get the global 1940 if only for the pieces, and then blow the extra money for the 1939 map and elite pieces if and when you and your crew outgrow it.  Another option is to play 1940 on this site with triplea.

      Anzac defender,

      I would wait until HBG’s newest map comes out.  It’s far more aesthetically pleasing than the current version, and the rules will also be more encompassing.  It’s the 1936 map as far as I know name-wise.  They might call it something else when they release it.  I will mention too though that you might wait for a little while if you go for that one, because progress on development is still on-going.

      ––Keep up the good work.
      ----I don’t know if you’re interested, but there is a company called I-94 Enterprises that make many, many decals that are useful for our A&A units.

      Has been Germany since 1987. That said, I enjoy playing the Western Allies now. Trying to coordinate landings in France and resupplying them, can be challenging. Seeing Germany ease
      off the pressure on Russia can be very satisfying too.
      Makes it all a bit tense. One mistake in the West and Moscow could fall.

      Well, a redesigned larger map would give extra space in which to put the plastic units, which would be nice, but it wouldn’t necessarily mean that it would take longer for the units to travel across the board because that would depend on whether the sea zones and land territories are large in size but few in number, or small in size but large in number.  In the particular case of my custom table, neither factor was changed because the plastic units only get put on the normal four-panel part of the map.  The auxiliary map panel on the left is just meant to help with the wrap-around visualization – though as a bonus, it also gives some extra free space as a handy working surface, as do the two table wings.

      Ummm….

      No…

      When I use my rule changes the battles rage all over the map
      Not one problem occurs…

      Infact we had different territories change hands multiple times…

      Russia actually stays in the war longer… (TURN 7)

      The game moves much more efficiently. …

      If you don’t try it…

      Your missing out one one of the best war games
      Ever written. .
