I don’t like the large size of the OOB Dauntless tactical bomber piece. I am considering replacing them with the HBG P-47 Thunderbolt or Helldiver. What are the sizes of these pieces? The P-47 looks bigger than a typical fighter. Would it work as a tac?

HBG P-47 & Helldiver, how big are they?

RE: Need your review: HBG's Bf-109
Hey, I answered your question… I am a collector… just not of sculpts I already have from OOB! lolz.
P.S.
Everyone should love HBG and appreciate them (obligatory response in this thread).I appreciate your reply! I’m only teasing you. :-D
HBG is a class act all the way and they totally enable this niche hobby of ours.

RE: Need your review: HBG's Bf-109
Haha alright, so this is an HBG appreciation thread now. :-D
I guess no one here bought the fighter in question? I thought you guys were collectors. What gives!

RE: Need your review: HBG's Bf-109
@C_Strabala:
HBG has always done right by me.
I agree, they (or he) is great, and I recommend them 100%, even though ive had issues with this/that, I don’t even really care, the good over shadows the bad so much, I don’t even care about the bad.
Totally agree.

Thank you for the tip. I already have some Fw-190’s mixed in. Yeah, they are solid!

Need your review: HBG's Bf-109
I’m considering upgrading all of my out-of-box Bf-109’s to HBG’s new sculpt.
I have had some bad luck in the past with some of their custom-made planes, however… Planes with twisted or crooked tails, that kind of thing.
Are these new Bf-109’s of exceptional quality? Are their wings and stabilizers parallel? What is your review of this piece?
Thank you!

RE: Using Alaska to reinforce Russia
I’ve done this before. It puts some pressure on Japan. I think it’s a valid strategy that’s worth exploring.
I recommend…
On the same turn, build a minor IC in Alaska plus 3 vehicles (maybe 2 mechanized, 1 tank) in Western U.S.
Next turn, build 3 infantry in Alaska and move the 3 vehicles up to meet them.
Next turn, start the “conveyor belt” with 3 transports moving those 6 units out of Alaska to Soviet Far East. Build 3 more infantry and 3 more vehicles.
Repeat. The transports can bounce back and forth delivering 6 units into Soviet Far East every turn. -
G40: Sicily connected to Southern Italy.
House Rule:
Sicily not considered an island, but a land territory connected to Southern Italy. Same way that Eire is connected to Scotland. This would encourage an Allied invasion of Sicily which is something I think a lot of us would be interested in seeing.

RE: These harbor pieces make great naval bases (see pic)
@Young:
All the examples I’ve seen over the years take up to much board space IMO… I would like to see the cardboard counters with icons printed double sided, and placed upright on tiny plastic standees. That would be my preference.
Here is a good solution for my table preference… I could make icon labels to stick on either side, however, these are 25mm which is still to big for me.
That’s a cool idea. Yeah, those examples are a little big. Personally, I prefer having little 3D sculpts on the table.

Here’s a new pic comparing its size to other facility pieces: http://imgur.com/a/5UMu3
The piece on the left is a factory from U-Build Monopoly, which I have lots of and use as minor IC’s.
The footprint of the harbor piece in question is 11/16"x1/2" plus the little dock sticking out. The detail on the piece is great and I think it would even make for a really nice Major IC.

I’ve been looking for a control tower for air bases. Good luck with your molds! Hope that comes out well.

These harbor pieces make great naval bases (see pic)
These are from Ticket To Ride: Rails and Sails. As you can see, they are slightly bigger than the footprint of an infantry piece. They would need to be painted, obviously. I have 15 of them. I don’t know if anybody’s interested in trading me for them, but I’d consider that! Always interested to see the amazing paint jobs you guys do. :-)

RE: What do you think is the value of these pieces?
I also have a large variety of Facility markers, including air, naval, factory, and anti-aircraft.
And smaller-size 3/4" chips meant to replace the original 7/8" Axis & Allies game chips to save space (shown in pic).

RE: What changes to the G40 map would you like to see?
@Young:
Beginning the long process of designing an A&A Global map from scratch.
OK. Forget what I said about GSG and the Azores! haha
But yeah, having natural-looking terrain would be nice. I think that for experienced players, who would be the ones potentially using your map, the original-owner roundels are enough. I’ll come up with a list of things I’d like to see and post again in a bit.

RE: What changes to the G40 map would you like to see?
Gameplay or cosmetic? One cosmetic change that I’d like would be for all of the territories to have natural terrain colors without any factional overlays. I would like to see just forest, desert, tundra, etc. Onr gameplay change that I’d like to see would be for Greater Southern Germany to extend further west to meet Switzerland, separating W. Germany from N. Italy.
I’d also like to see the Azorean Islands added to the board as a pro-Allied or maybe a true neutral territory.
Why do you ask?

Height/size of new Greatcoat Infantry compared to OOB infantry?
Hello,
Has anybody received their new German stuff yet? If so, how are the new Greatcoat Infantry? Are they in-scale with the OOB units? And would you say that the production quality is similar to the recent US stuff?
Thanks!

RE: Question about invading Sicily/Sardinia with a Russian infantry
My question would be is there really absolutely nothing better that infantry could be doing for the two turns it takes to invade Sicily? It won’t “pay off” until two turns after that, even, and you’re not really harming Italy at all by doing it, unless you, for some reason, are going to use it for an invasion-of-Italy staging point and want to spend Russian IPCs on facilities instead of US’s/UK’s?
And that’s saying nothing about the turn, or potentially two, you’re tying up the British transport.
It’s a moot point since Italy can easily block the move. However, in the particular game that I was playing, Germany attacked on turn 2, I had a Russian mech activate Persia on that turn, loaded up 1 infantry from Persia on round 3, so hypothetically that infantry could have landed on Sicily on turn 5. My games usually go to turn 9-10, so I saw it as a valid potential move.

Question about invading Sicily/Sardinia with a Russian infantry
In the game that I’m currently playing, I’m considering loading a Russian infantry onto a British transport so that it can later invade Sicily. My question is, can Italy scramble to block this amphibious assault?
