This is in poor taste.
Really?
So suddenly lacking faith in WOTC is poor taste?
Shall I burn myself as a heretic or should I expect the Spanish Inquisition at my door shortly?

You fiddle with armies on the campaign map, then the armies clash and you jump straight into the action.
What do you think?
Sounds very promising. Please post whatever you come up with!

Let’s just say: I don’t think Krieghund needs to find another job anytime too soon.
#695
france never recive any shermans.
Actually I don’t believe this is true and in the latter half of the war they used the Sherman as their MBT.
#695
Given the choice, I’d avoid helmets altogether and go with beret for the Brits and that garrison cap (wedge) for the Yanks.
#694
Well in terms of raw numbers I imagine there was some propaganda inflation… but then I can see how in urban warfare you could find yourself in a target rich environment and generate a string of kills without the necessity of a prolonged stalk.
And you might not get slammed with coord, massed firepower like during a meeting battle when the enemy isn’t so isolated and your position might be located quicker and dealt with by higher assets, fire and movement etc. so you’d live to hunt another day….
But then I wonder how many of his kills were presumed dead amongst all that cover?
#692
Ahhh yes, the thrill of math.
No thanks. I’ll keep my dice, forget my six times table and avoid the Deus Ex Machina phantom kill bank.

@Dylan:
Quebec could be a Canadian puppet state.
Odd how if he’d mentioned Obama in any context this would be flagged as political.
You should return to topic: it pretty much ended after Mr. Crunch’s last reply.
#689
It isn’t sexy like jets, rockets, and U-boats, and the atom bomb, BUT I think the real game changer would have been the assault rifle
Hard to deny it would’ve been a whole new ballgame launching Barbarossa in '41 with assault rifles and SMGs as standard issue…
I just think of house-clearing with a bolt-action rifle and get the willies.
#688
And Jermofoot is explaining why he finds the War of Texan Independence exciting / interesting…
#687
@Dylan:
I think had there been more Canadian units who spoke French and had French speaking command structures and maybe based out of Quebec more would have served. It seems nowadays Quebecers proudly serve the Canuck armed forces and I would wager they over-represent the armed forces per capita.
I’d agree with the former and the latter definitely seems difficult to dispute… although the lads from the Maritimes might give em a run for their money eh
#678
Listening to that makes me wish Canada was
BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario
And perhaps you should show some respect to those who serve your country regardless of what province or territory they’re from.
#686
yeah IL and others have done a champion job of trying to maintain the stickied thread of official news collected here and there… but the task is so freakin’ herculean that even that is too cumbersome to skim thru.
Anyway, if you find anything about the straits it would be interesting to know.
#685
Actually I cannot recall reading anywhere that these straits can be closed like the Dardenelles no matter who gets Morocco.
#684
Personally I find the Texan independence movement to be quite facinating the fact that the Texans even flirted with the idea of being a province of the British empire because the U.S government didnt want to accept them as a state of the union.
hhmph Didn’t know that.
Not entirely surprised, mind you. Independence seeking Metis in the Canadian West were willing to join the US later in that century.

@Imperious:
Yes i don’t want technology to be too elaborate. This is easier. The more you buy the closer you get to better models.
Each nation could have different targets…
An intriguing House Rule.

allboxcars - from your last post I just realized why you were mistaken.
ignore any of the “maps” that are drawn in paint - those are just people trying to extrapolate territories from the grainy picture of the back of the box map we have.
Umm actually I’m not “mistaken”.
The question was why are people thinking the straits will be closed if France is captured.
As the question is posed in this thread which discusses the maps, I believe I am still correct in saying that it is indeed the way the map is coloured that is creating these questions.
If you have an alternative cause of these questions I’d be glad to read it.
However, at no time did I say that Morocco was French or that it would be in the actual game.
#681
@Dylan:
Actually it’s a re-print and I think the original rocks.
#661
What do you think a good price would be for it?
Well a few years ago my friend bought it for $35 at a mall.
But I’m sure this Edition will be more expensive only because prices have gone up.
#680
Forgive me for interupting, but that dosnt have much to do with the map…
Good point. We should return to topic (which is entirely unrelated to how a computer game portrays a SMG).
…or why allboxcars wants to give spanish morroco to France
Sadly, not a good point.
I didn’t create the map with the blue territory which is what is generating the question re straits of GIB.
Please try to follow the thread.
