**2011 Axis and Allies Anniversary League Rules. **1 - Anyone can join at anytime
2 - You may play anyone in the league, but only a max of 3 games per opponent will count in standings. League games must be declared a League game (in thread title or League forum) prior to the start of the game.
3 - You must play at least 10 games against 6 different opponents to be eligible for the playoffs.
3a - If 5 or more people end up playing more than 20 games (in the league) then a separate grouping and playoff schedule will be created for these players.
4 - Game & rule default - AA50-41 setup, ADS, NO’s, No Tech, 15 VC, Allied bid, full bid placement.
4a – Victory Cities (VC) – If both players agree, VC’s can be lessened from 15. To avoid confusion please notate VC# in the first post of the game thread if this is the case.
4b - Tech - Tech is allowed in every game if you and your opponent agree to Tech prior to bidding.  To avoid confusion please notate +Tech in the first post of the game thread if this is the case.
4c - Bidding - You will be bidding for the Allies.  Players may agree on what bid server to use. If players cannot agree on what bid server to use they will use Frood.net as the default.
Alternative bidding method - Players may announce their desired bid in IPCs while trying to find an opponent.  Any player can accept the bid or attempt to negotiate the bid up or down until an agreement is reached.  The ipcs can then be spent on units (full placement).
If both players bid the same (or cannot agree on a bid) the sides are chosen by random by the bid server or a random in-house dice roll.
Standard bid placement rules apply for all bids.  (Same as previous leagues)
5 - There are no time limits on games and they can be paused for whatever reason.  However, if the player asking for the pause does not continue before the end of the season they will be declared the loser.  Paused Games must be mutually agreed to.
6 - You must have completed a game within 60 days (by Sept. 1) of the end of the season to be eligible to win or advance to the playoffs.
7 - Players are responsible to post results (in result thread). Post winner and loser. 8 - If a turn is not posted within 1 week of either the previous turn post or the end of a predetermined “pause” or break period, then the player failing to post may be declared in default and lose the game
9a - The Regular Season for each league will end on Nov. 1 and the standings will then be posted.  Games must be completed prior to this date in order to be counted for the 2011 season.
9b - Any games in progress that are completed after this date will be eligible to count for the next league (2012) assuming league rules remain the same or are similar.
    9c – 2011 Playoffs begin Nov 2nd
    9d – 2012 season begins Nov 2nd

    10 - Scoring/Playoffs
The top four players, with the best winning percentages (Must complete at least 10 games) will advance to the playoffs.
If there is a tie between any players then the tie will be broken by:
1 - head to head play
    2 - Total wins
3 – strength of schedule – Player Z’s opponents winning percentage was 80%, Player A’s opponents winning percentage was 20%. Player Z advances.

The single elimination, playoff game default format will be a game setup of 41’ w/ADS, N.O.'s, NO Tech, 15 VC, full bid placement.  Unless both players agree to an alternate game set-up.
If 5 or more players play 20 or more games a separate playoff schedule will be created for these players.

    Iron Man Title
To qualify for the Iron Man Title you must play at least 18 games.
The Iron Man Title will be awarded to the player who has the highest winning percentage in this group. Please note it is possible to win this title while not qualifying for a playoff game.

Thread titles for games should be something like this:

11L-Player (axis) vs. Player (allies) Bid amount, tech or no tech

  • Please clarify on how frood.net works. Apparently it doesn’t allow negotiating. I just got scammed.

    @cts17:

Please clarify on how frood.net works. Apparently it doesn’t allow negotiating.

Correct.  As far as I know Frood only allows a blind bid.  That is to say you bid an amount, and your opponent bids an amount (without seeing your bid). Then the lowest bid wins and you place your units.
Ex. Player 1 bid 8 for Allies, Player 2 bid 6 for Allies.  Player 2 gets the Allies then gets to place 6 ipc worth of units.
If the bids are tied then Frood will pick a winner by random.

If you want to use an auction bid or negotiate, you can do it in the challenge thread or via PM if someone responds to your initial request.

  • Another clarification please (sorry, this is my first year in an online league, really exciting and pretty intense). Optional Rules?

    Escorts/Dardanelles?

    No on both counts.

Only negotiable rule for the League is Tech.

  • Okay, so the Dardanelles option of being closed is off, so it is open, then?

  • Bidding to play allies?  Wow at least for 41, I thought allies got the slight edge already.  What’s the concensus for 42?  Who has edge?

  • Make a negative bid if you think allies have advantage. I had to do last year when we bidded for axis, a -25 bid 3 games and still I won 2 of 3 as axis

  • you won one of those due to me not haveing polished my allied skills func ;) The players that have polished theyre allied skills have a clear edge on the best axis players in -41 now.

In both versions, it seems more people feel the Axis have the Adv.  With the bigger adv in '41 and a slight adv in '42.  I have no idea, I haven’t played enough of either but the consensus here wanted an Allied bid.

Our stats showed Axis with a ~58% when we bid for them last year.  I’m guessing a straight up game will give the Axis about a 55-45 adv.  Bidding for the Allies?  I’m hoping it doesn’t shift and sart giving the Allies a greater than 60% chance.

It shouldn’t take too long for us to get a good read on bids and where placements are going.

And if the Allies start pulling out more then we should see what happen last year in the League, everyone playing straight up games.

In the meantime if you guys are right and strong Allied players have the adv then you can take adv of that and probably get at least a 3-6 bid (perhaps more) and rack up the wins.

With the new bid sistem, the proper bid will be lesser from 25  :-)

  • darth what does  ADS, and NO’s  stand for

    thanks

  • found no=national objectives

    thanks in advance

  • Amon buddy, good to see you again. Where ya been hiding lately?

I think ADS refers to the dice system or type of dice used. As in, regular dice, not low luck. Am I correct people?

  • Hmm, can’t seem to find the bid placement rules.  The 2010 league rules refer to previous leagues’ bid placement rules, but the rules for previous leagues have been removed.  Can anyone tell me the placement rules for bids?  :-D
    Thanks.

    Thanks.

It is the same bid system used for the revised league. It is an unrestricted bid, meaning you can take the IPC’s for a later purchase or for immediate units to be placed before the game begins.

Example: allies bid 9 and place one china inf in SUI, one UK inf in EGY & 1 russian inf in KAR or a UK destroyer in SZ2 and Russia get’s + 1 ipc to be spent on their turn.

    Does this make sense?

  • J-Dub, congrats on being made a moderator. I’m sure you’ll do a great job. Best 'o luck with the responsibility.  :-D :-P
