How did you first learn about A&A?

It is a good show, if you take it for what it is. I watch and like it. :-)

Since the rule has been made noone has flipped the table… Yet.

It was flipped once after turn 3 of are second game of global.

I was Italy and taking over a poorly played Japan from a friend who had to go. The Allies were going really hard on the Pacific and after my turn 3 which was extremely good especially with dice rolls. They took there turns and flipped the table as they saw the writing on the wall. That is why the rule was in place.

I wasn’t going to comment but positive feedback should not be withheld.  The choices were pretty amusing especially the one about the original Nova version, I wish I still had mine.  Had the question been “ever” and not “last 5 years” I would have been honoured to check that one.  I guess I really am getting old!  Say that to me at the gym after an hour sonny!   :wink:

True, I could have checked off a few more myself if the question was ‘ever,’  but I was more curious as to what games are still being played, and from the looks of it, most of them are, even the ones that are more than a decade old.

The discussions for that version are under “Axis and Allies”, and covers both the ORIGINAL version, 2nd Edition (that you have) and 3rd Edition (with rule modifications from the 1998 Hasbro CD)

Good points, but what if you applied it to abortion as we have applied other parts or added ammendments for blacks, hmm?

i haven’t played a+a in quite some time (hmm. almost 5 years) and i’ve recently started playing with a couple of new people who are quite skilled players (which is nice) however, when i played before russia was never allowed to attack first. these guys play with the russian’s being able to attack first. i don’t know if it’s my skills being rusty or what. . .but i haven’t been able to have a dominating win with axis yet!! one ipc victory (only because of japan) and two losses. it’s quite frustrating.

If you say these guys are skilled players, then that explains it all. Skilled players don’t loses convincingly when playing the Allies under the normal set of rules.

I just had a dominating victory as the Axis against some friends who have a lot of experience but haven’t played in a while. They are convinced that their poor rolling was the reason they lost so badly. They believe this because there was no single move that they made that proved to be devistating to their objectives. However, it was obvious to me -and my partner- that their over all strategy (or lack there of) was very weak. They should know better.

If these guys have a good understanding of the fundamentals of the game as well as Allied strategy, you are probably going to have to forget about a dominant Axis victory and learn to settle for just a victory.
