Well these are AutoCad. where is the picture of the actual piece?

    You using aluminite?

I don’t own a 3d printer myself. We’re probably close to a decade away from them being affordable enough to go mass market. There are many 3D printing services to choose from however. All the ones I’ve looked at so far have a minimum order so I need to have a more complete set before I can actually have them printed. Once I do that though there should be a quick turn around. In less than 10 days I should have my pieces.

I’ll probably go with a service that has a Z-Corp printer. From what I understand they provide the highest quality printing available.

  • Wouldn’t the Horton require a Stealth Tech allong with a jet tech?

Could Stealth really be added to a WWII game?  I know Germany actively researched stealth, and the US only stumbled upon it, but ought it be available to all major powers?

  • @Upside-down_Turtle:

Wouldn’t the Horton require a Stealth Tech along with a jet tech?

Horton was given the contract because the Ho 229 was the first design to come close to meeting Hermann Göring’s “1000, 1000, 1000” performance requirements. In specific terms Goring wanted an aircraft capable of carrying a 1,000 kg (2,200 lb) load over 1,000 km (620 mi) at 1,000 km/h (620 mph). Stealth characteristics were an added bonus in the design, but range and speed were the primary considerations.

  • One thing I can see that this 3d printer offers is that you could have a box full of different bombers instead of all similar pieces.  Imagine if instead of five B-17s, you had a B17, B25, B27, B29, …

    That would be sweet.

Thanks. I consider my 3d modeling skills to be at the beginner level actually. Luckily, military hardware consists of pretty geometric shapes. Once you’ve learned how to use the 3d tools it’s essentially a lot of tracing. You import a schematic diagram of the vehicle showing the top, side & front view and then start tracing.  8-) It’s a lot of work and it can get pretty tedious but I’m getting better at it.

Yeah, you can use the differentiated units however you want. It makes things more fun.

Actually, I’m using Wings 3D. No plans to attend Autodesk U.

  • Wings 3D, Who makes that product?

  • @Brain:

Wings 3D, Who makes that product?

It’s a free program. You can find the download on google.
