Industrial Complex
-
I was wondering if there is any useful way to purchase and place/use an Industrial Complex for US in that game?…
From my understandig of the rulebook is it only possible if:- you conquer an enemy territory like Bonin Is. for example or
- retake the Philippines
The rulebook says that the territory needs an IPC value.
you can retake an allied one but it is still owed by the former ally.Considering a strategy to set up an IC on Solomon Is. will probably fail.
I thank you upfront for your input in this manner!
Any good strategy for US is as well welcomed…Thank you -
It is pretty much not necessary to purchase another IC for the US. If the Japanese do not take the Philipennes on turn 1 then you must buy one but otherwise it isn’t needed.

Oh, I don’t know, a late game Philippines IC can come in handy. Instant bombers for pummeling Japan.

Turn 1: Transports w/men from SZ 5 to SZ 14
Turn 2: Transports from SZ 14 to SZ 32
Turn 3: Transports from SZ 32 to SZ 43
Turn 4: Attack Siam and/or FIC in conjunction with Chinese forces, select territory as American
Turn 5: Build IC
Turn 6: Profit!!!…not guaranteed to be worth a damn, but it’d be fun to try.

Ahhhh… but handy and necessary aren’t the same.
I always see it more as a coup 'de grace.

True, most of the time it’s not necessary. However, I’ve had a few games hang on a timely SBR or a couple of battleships dropped directly into a depleted US fleet.

Having the US put one in Australia has proved useful on several occasions to speed reinforcements there.

The AAPacific rules do not permit the US to place an IC in Australia.
