• If you want to move sea units
through a canal, your side (but
    not necessarily your power) must
control it at the start of your turn
(that is, you can’t use it the turn
you capture it). The Panama Canal
is controlled by the side that
    controls Panama. The Suez Canal
is controlled by the side that
    controls both Anglo-Egypt and
    Trans-Jordan. If one side controls
    Anglo-Egypt and the other
    controls Trans-Jordan, the Suez is
    closed to sea units.

i wasnt sure if this was allowed so i checked and
this means if Germany captures Suez Japan can use it on that same very turn

and afcorse subs can alwas pass through channells, monetheless

Why would you say a sub can move through a channel regardless of ownership?

This is not a true statement.  A sub is a sea unit, so it is included in the rules you posted above.

  • axis roll is rite again.

  • @newpaintbrush:

    axis roll is rite again.

i thought subs can pass through channells

    nevermind

  • @Amon:

i thought subs can pass through channells

Tha would be an interesting house rule.

Probably would help the allies more than the axis though.

  • Sure!
Every thing that do not allow German Infantry to roll two dice and hit on 4 (in attack and in defense) will help allies! :D

    Seriously, it would be interesting.
Axis_roll why do you think that it would help Allies? Because Allies may sneak subs in the Mediterranean across Suez? Because Allies are more able to get advantages of naval units features? Or because Axis may spend more money in submarine, and this is not a good thing?

I am wondering why is possible to go from North Sea to Baltic Sea. I think that Skagerrak and Kattegat should be crossed only if you control Norway and Denmark.

  • @Romulus:

When would Germany need to push subs into the indian ocean?
Japan might want to get subs through the suez canal later in the game.

I agree the allies could push some subs thru to the med to sink a german fleet (and save some planes)

IMHO, Panama canal doesn’t really have much bearing in this discussion too far away to really come into play.

  • Actually, I think that you are completely right.
I did not considered the situation with this point of view.

    you must be European

  • Yes, I am Italian.
Er… Skagerrak and Kattegat are the straits that connect the North Sea and the baltic Sea. They were guarded and for what I know was never crossed by a large allied fleet during WWII.

  • @Romulus:

    Yes, I am Italian.

was in Rome once for a week
    it was great

  • Yes also I like Rome. It has a particular flavour. About 2760 years of history that look at you!

But I think that the more beautiful Italian city is Florence.

i would like to properly visit the alps, stay for more than few days

and Sicily attracts me very much, i simply like Sicilia

you may write Firenza, i write like this too

  • I do not want to be pedant but … it is Firenze. And then you may also write Roma.

Mmmm maybe i am out of topic.

And just to post an useful message, I have considered my idea, and I rejected it!

First the fact that no fleet crossed the straits between Denmark and Swedish do not imply that it was not possible to the allies.

Second there are other straits (more narrow than those in Denmark) in the game that are not considered “blocked”.

So I invite myself to not post again about this idea! ;D

  • :-o
    Romulas,
Have you ever been driving to work and realized that your not fully dressed yet?
I think I’m off topic too, but I’m trying to more fully understand your telling yourself to not post on this topic anymore.
I really don’t expect you to answer here but somewhere else.

  • I will answer only to specify that I have reflected on my idea and I have found it not worth to be considered. My fault that I was too impulsive this time and I have posted before and thought only after the posting! :D

I answer here to avoid being out of topic elsewhere!

Usually it happens to me to forget a lot of objects and things to do.

An example? I usually forget to move the Russian Sub on R1!

  • Umm, that is the only time I remember to move it.
