@leemorrison You’re being polite. Yes I got my bomber and some air shot down during the first two turns but I overextended very badly with Japan, mostly because I underestimated the value the tanks would give you in terms of exploiting openings in my positions.
2025 Classic Tournament

@kwaspek104 @gamerman01 @VictoryFirst @DoManMacgee @Ragnell804 @Martin @elche
This is a new thread for the 2025 Classic tournament. I believe everything has been sorted out. What @Martin started last year has expanded with additional talent. You are all exceptionally talented and friendly players imo.
If there is any dispute let me or gamerman know and we will help get it resolved. We’re playing Classic, 2nd Edition with Restricted Attack, No Neutrals, and tech on/after turn 4.
Sides are by agreement or bid as outlined by Gamerman.
If this tournament works out well (I feel strongly it will), I’ll open it up by advertising on Facebook and YouTube next year and give the G40 league a run for its money. Best of luck to you all. Have fun. Be cool.
Let’s push some plastic.

*forgot to say - please report wins/losses here

Exciting times! :-) Thank you TGC and gamerman for the organization and for being available for rule questions and disputes! Before getting started - where shall we post new game threads - here, or in “play board games”, or elsewhere?
Let’s get ready to rumble! :-)

I’m posting in “Play Boardgames” unless a moderator moves it somewhere else. @kwaspek here we go!

Does the water next to East Canada border West Canada? I’m reading the rules and it just says East Canada connects to West Canada.
I’m guessing no…
The physical board doesn’t wrap around -

The physical board doesn’t wrap aroundThe water next to East Canada borders West Canada, yes. Units can load from West Canada into the SZ off East Canada.
Check the supplementary “Rules Clarification” - I would cite it page and column but don’t have a digital copy and don’t have access at the moment.

Whoops! Yes, first bullet point on the clarification, front page thank you

Hello all,
thanks for organizing this tournament. -
League discussion thread for classic
There is a new discussion thread in the league (link is above) devoted to the Classic version. A veteran of the league who’s played a lot of G40 has already posted to the thread,
Giving you the link and you can get involved with the discussion even if you may not ever play a league game (the thread is for you)
Going forward as hopefully some or all of you play a Classic game in the league some time soon, that (pinned) thread is dedicated for discussion between you

My game with @Martin is over. He won.

Got it, bracket updated -
Don’t go 'way, you’ll play the 2nd place finisher of Good_Captain and kwas!
-
@gamerman01 I love this mode - you loose once, but it is not automatically over!
-
It has been a long time since I’ve experienced double elimination, but from what was being said here, it made me think of it. Glad you like it, I’m confident others do too (besides you and me)
-
Would it be possible to add links to the game threads to the spreadsheet? I am interested in looking at other people’s games and if they were all there that would save a lot of searching time. Also, adding the sides in brackets after the player names would be a great idea as well. (e.g. VictoryFirst (Axis) - Gamerman01 (Allies).
-
Sure, that’s a great idea to put in what side was taken, I’ll do that.
So a couple thoughts on finding games.
#1 we are like the only guys playing in the tournament section right now, so the threads are super accessible.
#2 there is a thread ID number up in the URL. It’s the 5 digit number, and you can actually just enter that number after forums/topic/
and it will take you right there.#3 I can put a note/comment in the cell that I think you can see, but I would just put in the 5 digit number, so if you don’t understand how to do what I’m trying to describe, let me know
But we’re the only ones playing here right now, our games are at the top of the forum.

So bids are not expected/required.
@The_Good_Captain laid out the options we’re playing with, like no neutrals, to pretty much “balance” the sides, and I think he is very qualified to do so
“By agreement” doesn’t just mean someone gives in, it means you can horse trade until you agree on the sides.
No one should have to play the side they don’t want. Bidding is one way to resolve this, but it’s not the only way. You might play “no new complexes” for example.
Russian restricted and no neutrals go a long way toward nerfing the Allies. I have very little experience playing Classic in competitive play, so I don’t know who has the edge, but it surely isn’t a very big edge, and it’s probably different for each player’s perception. So bidding is an excellent way for each player to get the side they want, but if you don’t like adding pieces (or taking away) from the board, that is very understandable. Find another way if you and your opponent want to.
If you still can’t resolve, Good Captain and/or I can help make sure both players are satisfied before the Russian purchase

@gamerman01 defeats @VictoryFirst after Hitler and Stalin decided to do a capital swap.

Both sides waved politely as they marched by each other

@The_Good_Captain Hello TGC,
gamer has told me that I can be a late addition to the tournament. And get to play you in the first round (gulp).
Set us up when ready, let me know your bid, please
