If you read the top of page 11 you will see there is a new rule for V3 where you cannot combat move through a canal as you proposed. The example they give is exactly what you were talking about. You can still choose to do it the old way but either way that is one of the things you should have all of the players to agree to before the game begins. We always play it the new way.

@aldrahill Actually, I downloaded their map and printed out some sheets zoomed in on certain regions for help in planning moves. I was just working on coordinating my first two moves for Japan, and find it easier to plan on a map of the region than to simply write out the moves. I didn’t need a super high quality version of the map, but it’s helpful to see terrain and borders clearly.

@linkler to attack the Soviets in July 39 before they have an opportunity to declare war first Germany will only have one turn to purchase tanks and mechs and place them in range to get to Warsaw/Romania in Jan 39 and then to Moscow in July 39 with the lightning war. There will not be enough units to capture Moscow with that. Germany doesn’t have enough production slots available to put enough down in that first purchase. - remember that the first turn
You are able to purchase blitzing medium tanks is July 38.

Also: you are going to attempt to sign the Molotov pact with the Soviets to buy you that time needed to build up your tanks and mechs (and position them in Warsaw/Romania)

And yes, Army of Africa were used as shocktroops. 3/3 vs 2/4 is still similar total value of stats but for a smaller unit size. The air transport can not be sunk. And lend lease an airborne with the Axis and Republicans need to take care of not being surrounded by leaving too many spaces empty. I would appreciate playtesting results. Designers can miss things in initial game testing. I am only human after all, don’t put the blame on me 😉

@GeneralHandGrenade thanks GHG. I’m going to have to make that assumption as well. I have a feeling it’s a contradiction though, as they mention what you say above specifically in the “Declarations of War” section. But I’d have to go with your assumption, as there would be no point in any kind of truce being signed otherwise.

Do you have any insight to my second question about the use of CCP income?

Ahhh thanks for this GHG. I’d always thought the rule meant that the Spanish Civil War kept playing out once the Germans and USSR were at war, but that once the war ended, the winning side would be automatically aligned.

Interesting, that definitely changes things in my thinking of the game! It probably behooves the Axis to keep the war going for as long as possible to have them automatically join later. Though the flip side is no victory points for winning the SCW.
