I feel that a terrible opener for Germany in the Atlantic is worse than a terrible opener for Germany on the east front because this means the western allies are one or even two turns ahead of where they should be. this translates to a much larger western army or armies available to save Russia or kill Germany (Whatever looks more effective). In effect you don’t only have IPC’s that are better spent as the western allies against Germany, but you have them a lot sooner than they otherwise should be.

I just played this game for some rounds into the future and I think my position is lost. I can’t both defend Berlin and form an army to take Moscow at the same time. So GG, well played 😁
My critical mistake was moving my entire army to Belorussia. It was quite funny because when I tested it, it looked like it was a decisive move and I thought the game would be a German victory, but after you did your turn I was suddenly completely lost 😂.
I thought the move would be decisive because you couldn’t retreat to Moscow because you had no units attacking from there, so you had to attack my army for all rounds of combat in a somewhat risky battle, and even if you rolled above average I still would have more than enough stuff for a devastating counter-attack. In my playtest (in which I used Low Luck), I managed to capture Moscow in the end.
However, I believe I forgot about some important things, which made me misevaluate the move. For example, I forgot about the US fighter reinforcing Belorussia. Also, the Belorussian stack move looked so good that I thought you rolling above average wouldn’t make any difference. However, in our game, I think you only rolled slightly above average and it made a massive difference. So that was a learning lesson for me, big battles can be swingy and you should test them a couple of times with normal dice to see all the different outcomes of the battle, and not think success is guaranteed.
I really appreciate these games. They not only help me get better at this game but also help me become a better player in general.
Let me know if you are up for another. Would you like to switch sides again?
-
Actually if you are OK with it, I’d like to play the Germans again in our next game.

@VictoryFirst sounds great to me my friend. My Allied bid will be two infantry in Malta and two in Karelia. Ready when you are =)
-
@VictoryFirst Actually, I should see what your bid is first - just let me know.
-
Alright, I will place 4 infantry in Romania.
-
@VictoryFirst yeah, go ahead and put two brits in Malta and 2 Russian inf in Karelia. Fire when ready.
