I’m curious, how was the game? Did you enjoy it?
Does this work?

If two American fighters on a carrier attack an enemy sea unit, can the carrier also attack provided it is within range? Thank you!
-
Sure, why not?
Not sure what you mean by “within range”. Of course the attacking carrier during combat move phase has to move into the same seazone where the enemy sea unit is located.
Also the two fighters don’t attack “on the carrier” but at combat move phase launch from the carrier and move independently from the carrier. -
When I said “within range”, sometimes fighters take off to attack three sea zones away where the carrier can’t reach, where the carrier won’t be in range. In this case the carrier is two sea zones away.

I meant the scenario where fighters take off to attack three sea zones away where the carrier can’t reach.
But that would be “out of range” for the carrier instead of “provided it is within range” from your inititial posting.
Anyway, the carrier can join the attack in case it is part of the forces attacking in the hostile seazone.

I see you edited your second posting. Anyway I had quoted your original version with my last answer, so I hope that avoids even more confusion.
However I think your question has been answered. As always only units present in the embattled space can attack. So units “not in range” during combat move phase can’t join the attack, while units “in range” can, provided they move to (and reach) the hostile space, then.
I speak of “units” here, as this is a general concept of the game.

Thank you! I believe this applies to other editions as well?

It’s a general concept of every A&A game (at least those on a Global scope, also 1940 Europe and 1940 Pacific).
