Clarification of Turn and Round for use with:

    - Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion
    - Axis & Allies Global 1940 Basic Expansion
    - Axis & Allies Global 1943 Expansion

In the Rulebooks for all these Expansions (see The Captain’s Global 1940 House Rules Collection for all Global 1940 Expansions) the terms Turn and Round are used throughout the rulebooks.

    Turn:
This is the definition when a Nation has the option to begin it’s Action Sequence.

    Example:
On Germany’s Turn, Germany starts with repairing the Battleship unit in sz 112 - and purchases 10 Infantry units…

In other words: a Turn consists of several Actions that each Nation can initiate. Some of these Actions are:

    • Repair & Purchase units
    • Combat Movement
    • Combat
      … etc.

    Round:
When all Nations have had their Turn - one Round of Play has been completed.

    Example:
Round Early 1940 (or Round 1) is completed when France has had it’s turn.

    Important:
A Global 1940 game with the use of Global 1940 Basic Expansion consists of 10 Turns - since there are 10 Nations/Economies represented.

A Global 1940 game with the use of Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion consists of 9 Turns since there are 9 Nations/Economies represented (United Kingdom & India are one Economy).

A Global 1940 game with the use of Axis & Allies Global 1943 Expansion consists of 7 Turns since there are 7 Nations/Economies represented (United Kingdom, India & ANZAC are one Economy)

There is no limit concerning the number of Rounds over which each game extends - for as long as the Winning Conditions has not yet been fulfilled.

The Strategy Guide Global 1940 can be used to some extent for use with the Global 1940 Basic Expansion.

  • @the-captain

Did you chang anything in the guides?

    Thank you!

The Global 1940 Basic Expansion has been updated (see pg. 1 at this thread).

    The only change is:

    • A Waffen-SS Infantry unit now costs 1 IPC.

This Waffen-SS Infantry Cost is identical to the cost that is used in the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion.

  • @the-captain right on. What prompted the change ?

  • @barnee
We discussed in our Play Testing Group a few minor changes to the Basic Expansion - one of them was the cost reduction of the Waffen-SS Infantry unit.

The main reason for this change, is to avoid confusion when players go from Global 1940 Basic Expansion to the full capacity of the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion.

Concerning Play Balance in the Basic Expansion, it doesn’t seem to have any major influence - mostly because players only use the Basic Expansion 3-5 times before stepping up to Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion.

A few more changes to the Global 1940 Basic Expansion might come within a few months.

@TheCaptain Sorry to ask again but are Lenningrad and Ukraine only able to place 3 conscripts or 4 if upgraded ? Stalingrad only minor that can produce 6 ?

    These
infantry units can be placed at any Soviet
Industrial Complex that the Soviet player controls
from the start of that turn.

Russia can place a maximum of 20 Red Army
Conscription infantry units in Moscow and a
maximum of 6 Red Army Conscription infantry
units in Stalingrad in round Early 1942.

  • @barnee

If the Soviet Union upgrades a Minor Industrial Complex to Heavy Industry 1 Unit - then the Soviet player can place up to 4 Red Army Conscription Infantry units at that Industrial Complex.

The Soviet player can place up to 6 Red Army Conscription Infantry units at the Industrial Complex in Stalingrad (Volgograd) - even without any upgrade to Heavy Industry.

The Global 1940 Basic Expansion is being revised.

We expect to release the revised edition in Late 2023.

  • @the-captain

    Nice.

    Concerning Soviet Factories:

Only Original Soviet Industrial Complexes that exist from game start (Early 1940) are covered by the rule described at pg. 20-21.

This means that any enemy Industrial Complex that the Russian player may capture (or any Industrial Complex the Soviet player purchases) during the game must be treated on the same terms as for all other Nations.

  • @The-Captain

    Thanks for clarifying!
