Motorized Infantry

Hey guys this is just my idea on elite infantry. Also check out my forum on a simple way to add troop quality to the game here: https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/34219/infantry-idea. Anyways, here’s how I think elite infantry should work:

they are a separate unit they are available to all countries Attack 3, Defend 3, Cost 4 When attacking they get a preemptive and any hit they get defend at one less

I very much like the overall idea. I think you’re doling out too many infantry in too many different places, and the effect will be disruptive to players’ strategies and will require a lot of bookkeeping.

I would cut the bonuses roughly in half, and apply them to only a handful of specific countries that are relatively easier to remember. I would also limit the bonus to territories that start the game in enemy hands, so you don’t get weird see-saw effects as ownership changes hands.

I like the idea of having Paris yield bonus units rather than ‘re-igniting’ the French economy.

French Indo-China – 1 infantry
Western US – 1 infantry

GERMANY

Ukraine – 2 infantry
Baltic States – 1 infantry

ITALY

Egypt – 2 infantry

USSR

Yugoslavia – 2 infantry
Romania – 1 infantry
Manchuria – 1 infantry

UK

Poland – 2 infantry
Norway – 1 infantry
Holland/Belgium – 1 infantry

USA

Paris – 3 infantry, 1 artillery, 1 fighter
Southern Italy – 2 infantry
Okinawa – 1 infantry

ossel, in 1 of my games I do have Light infrantry. There is a cap on how many per country and the A and D is lower than Reg. infrantry.

I will have to look at rule again if your interested in values. I’m guessing there like ( D12 )  A 1, D 2, M 1, C 2.

Yea,  they are great replacements.  Snipers, or like you said, just a cool pose.

Maybe a NA for Japan could be Entreched defenders on Islands + 1 defence on first salvoe

oldsalty, regarding India and third world I think the problem is best addressed by playing with custom income values (rather than a specific rule)

AARHE don’t adjust it as it intends to be a house rule rather than a variant
even then variant map “AARHE 1939” is not that “pure” and gave India 4 IPC hehe

buy some number chips, Imperious can probably tell you where to get that kind of stuff

any terr. has a certain amount of Population loyal to the government it started the game under, and that is the limit to non-IC inf production……
