D Day set and gaming

I like to get into the big games (so far at 1800 points each, heavy on the armour and 700 when infantry heavy).  I love the look of 3 D boards and build my own from styrofoam.

When you get that big, you need umpires who are really into the rules and who can keep the game on task.  Each player really can’t effectively fight more that 15 pieces and fewer is better unless there are all the same model.  Otherwise knowing their special abilities is tough to keep up with.  I have seen all sorts of games lost by those who have not employed the abilities properly.

With multiple players have the teams send up their players in some sort of order and have a designated die roller.  It keeps it faster.  Also, no thinking when its your turn to move or assault.  All that needs to be done ahead of time.

Let me know how 40K people take to this.  I’ve a club on my campus (Trent U. in Peterborough Ontario)that I’m unsure of how to break into with this game.

lol, I got my son his first gameing system this year, Nintendo DS and your probably right, but so far he is still willing to sit to the table with dad.

I’m looking forward to the consolidated rules book.  I assume it has all the errata which will make it easier to play without searching out the newest bits.

Although I most often build my own maps, I’m a lover of maps and am looking forward to these new ones.

No mention of more for the miniature navy this year though.

Just think of how long and hard it would be to kill all them (assuming you even could). The Allies can do the same thing with Partisans and Paratroopers, or Commissars, support weapons, and chinese infantry. This is why my play group always uses historical formations; so you don’t get lopsided battles.

All the boxes from booster1 were like this.  Really easy to open and reglue.  Thats why the changed it int booster2.

As long as you cards are still sealed in the platic bag you are OK.  But it was really easy for “bad” people to open a box to see what was inside. If they didn’t like… just heat the glue a litte and reclose the box

I guess wizards took the decision purely on low cost… cheap bastards !!

Its got to be the crocodile for me!  I love the tank its a marvel at such a low price.  As a UK army only person I always make sure and take at least one.
