  • @erinmores no scramble and no intercept. And no the editing was just thought I wanted to see the game as it was going to be. I think I would have moved the Italian units forward as well although I probably would also then set up to have enough German air to keep it safe. Not sure if that will be an issue for you there yet though.

    We did. I’d be one of the better players I think but not in the top tier. Simon and I would be pretty close.

    If you haven’t played a lot online yet, there is generally a bit of a jump in the quality of play here relative to in real life. The online game gives you access to the odds calculations and a lot of different game situations and strategies as you play a lot of different people. So the quality of game play tends to go up quickly after a few games here. So it maybe the case that the bid was unnecessary in this one. But because its league I do still play to win and I was unsure about your experience in the game (and my rustiness with the regular game). I didn’t want to not take a bid and then discover we are close in experience in the game and you were playing axis which has a significant advantage in the regular game. And in the other one, I felt I had good dice, but that I almost was beaten in the Pacific early. I think with some less conservative play in a couple of situations you might have been able to make my win much more difficult.

    yeah. I think you are in trouble. Something to think about, I’d suggest, is choosing moves that do a better job of conserving your forces, or at least making sure that you get a better trade. Your attack at pearl harbour exposed more of your units than it took of mine. Your move of the Italian fleet will end up doing the same I think. Also while combats are obviously important, its better to focus on those combats that are quite safe, and also think about how you set up your forces to threaten multiple counters. In the pacific you want to try to force the British and Chinese to turtle and keep the ANZAC and US on the periphery. This gives you teh space to grab territory so that you can compete economically with the US If you are trading units with the US, even if you get the better of the trade, the US is in a far better position to replace its units until you’ve secured the islands.

    Also with Germany, if you are going for Moscow, you want to set your builds up so that you maximize the units moving from Germany to the front. I think I have set it up so that you can’t safely move your stack in right now. The bomber build can wait until later and mechs and tanks should be the main build now.

    I’m happy to keep playing. But if you are feeling frustrated, we can stop. If we stop now we don’t have to count it as a league game as well.
