  • @ClintA snowy. Wife and I are not doing so well. Her (mine via marriage only) youngest granddaughter had a fever for two days and that was stressful. Plus, she was going to see everyone and have the other granddaughter over this weekend for one of their 3 day sleep overs, and that fell apart, so she isn’t in best of space. I look at the numbers out of Italy and try not to freak out. Today it snowed, so peaceful winter wonderland out the windows.


  • @ClintA BTW - game note. You are aware of the long standing game rule that you cannot load a transport in a combat zone, right? UK has now, and could add another destroyer in sz 110 and that would prevent you from picking up all the troops you moved to Normandy. I’ve made that particular error.

  • @ClintA Hello Clint. I don’t think this was a fair fight. If you are open to some suggestions so your next game goes better, here are my Top 5 Suggestions (and we can flip sides if you want and play again). (1) you deserve a 20 IPC bid - that would be totally fair. (2) you have way too much gear in Normandy. If you want to invade UK, grab the gear from West Germany, maybe Norway, maybe Germany. The most effective maneuver I have seen is: Round 1 - Germany buys NOTHING and captures France. Round 2 Germany buys ONLY transports Round 3 Germany takes UK. (3) always leave fighters at air bases so you can scramble. That alone would have defeated my attack on Denmark (4) Go for National Objectives - for Japan, this is taking the 4 islands – it is a 24 ipc swing. (5) On this platform, utilize the battle calculator - for instance, you didn’t need all the planes on round 1 when you attacked France. Most players take that territory with no planes.


  • @ClintA I appreciate the game with you and am down for a second game, you can decide how you want the bid - limits: one unit per territory or sz; must already be a unit there. Also, limited to what you are allowed - so China can have fighter/s, artillery, infantry but not subs or tactical. I’ll also let you have one tech per nation if you want.


  • Happy to try again, I have a lot to learn and appreciate the steer. Have to confess I have no clue about bid etc but if you keep dropping hints I’ll try to make it competitive for you


  • @ClintA well, for now, think about how you want to spend 20 ipc. it could be one battleship or five artillery or a sub here, artillery there. You will be Allies, so think about where a little extra firepower would go a long ways. For instance: many people add an artillery at Anglo Egypt - then you can get 1@one, 4@two and a single bombard @three, into Ethiopia on Round One. Let me know and I will set up the game.
