    yah I was planning a G4 SL from the beginning, since I didn’t want to accept even a 96%ish odds with a much lower expected average score. and your doing a uk dow on Japan just made that decision all that much easier.

    Expected TUV from SBR would have been +7, some of which would have been damage he would have had to repair himself. In the end it would have been worth maybe 2 inf but at the risk of german bombers which are worth a lot more.

  • So the rationale for the G4 SL being that the extra units built in London just get destroyed by the extra forces Germany can bring in, for 0 effective loss while also keeping USA out of the war? But it does also leave USSR unmolested for another turn.

    In a sealion game Russia is a major threat to germany, not the other way around. This gives germany an extra turn. And germany will end up a lot stronger after a g4 sea lion than a g3 and so will be able to better defend itself against russia long term. If russia had been at war this turn after a g3 sea lion they would have made another 14-20 ipcs. And germanys air wouldnt have been in bosition to do anything about it so next turn they would have been in good shape as well.

    So no I dont think it benefits allies at all.

    Not to keep going on about this, but thats what a J3 looks like with no US. You will take out zero transports. And japan grabbed everything of importance. Thats worth a lot more than 7 ipcs. UK better get quite the win out of DOW on japan otherwise its never worth it.

    I think he assumed a G3 SL, with London falling down, falling down, falling down, which is why he went for the Dow on japan.

    Just checked the rulebook. The US DD isn’t allowed to end turn next to “Japan-controlled territories”! That means it can’t remain in the DEI even if it wants to. Was kind of expecting original controlled or something.

    yeah, but even if you were going for a G3 Sea lion, if UK dows japan, then I think there is plenty of reason to wait till g4. Basically gives axis a free turn. As you said you were going g4 all the way, but I think if you had planned a g3 and saw the UK DOW you would have changed your mind.
