It’s totally possible. When you create a custom online game, pick Private in the Game Privacy toggle, and then you’ll be able to send an invite to your friend.
Beware of joining too many ranked games

- Go to Ranked Games
- Click the “Look for Games” button
- Spinner starts up
- Spinner stops
- There will be no dialog boxes, no snackbars, no alerts, nothing that plainly indicates that a game has been created.
What happens is that there is a subtle number next to “Notifications” on the menu. That number will increment. This is your success notification. It’s also your notification for other things in the game. It’s confusing but, for reasons, don’t expected this confusing behavior to be fixed; we’ll just have to deal with it. Thus my warning to you all.
Also, if you’ve clicked that button a ton of times, look in your notifications or you’ll lose all those ranked games after the 24 hour timeout.
I have 4 ranked games in progress now. 1 on purpose, 2 on accident, and 1 to try to reproduce the behavior.

@djensen Its not working right now. I’m sure alot of this will get ironed out but all the current games should be wiped because its error city and the new interface is bizzare, especially after I just got used to the original way they set it up–which was always my beef with tripple AAA is that the way of displaying and recording the moves is a mess and it causes endless mistakes until you learn by trial and error exactly what to move and how and where and by repetition overcoming the UI’s idiosyncracies

@JuliusBorisovBeamdog I know I’m saying until the issues with the new pathing system get resolved all these games need to be wiped because we can’t see active games 1/2 the time, and we’re all making tons of mistakes because the new pathing system is unfamiliar and frankly, a big step backwards for now. Tons more players on FB are joining because they’re ready and excited for ranked play but the game isn’t ready for it.

Gotcha! But you get notifications on email (old-style) when the game is started and you have to take a turn.

@JuliusBorisovBeamdog Yes, the issue is that the active games don’t display on the roll most of the time so at first I thought all my pre-patch games had been cancelled…and people are spam-joining the ranked games but since they cannot see (or enter) those games they can only interact with them by clicking on the notifications page, which only gives you a route to the game 1 time before disappearing. Know the whole thing is a work in progress and glad you are monitoring what we see on the other side of the screen.

We all need to admit that this team moves really fast on bugs and issues and feedback. But they have a “tell” because if there is a long gap between point releases, we now know some big changes are going to be in the next release. :wink:
The team will make improvements on the system and then I think attitudes will be neutral to very positive.
BTW, I love the summary tab in the dossier. So nice. Throw in an odds calculator (for a fee?) and we’re off to the races.

The new update is a disaster. It keeps crashing…even more so than before. And it´s an uphill struggle just to get the game to load. Most of my battles are done without any visible units,
Could live with it if I was able to reload and continue but that German general and the Iron cross picture with the loading-bar on permanent empty haunts my sleep…We are not amused :-( -
@Bjergmose It just dumped my games b/c i was out of town for a single day…have much to iron out
