    @Wittmann Unless I’m mistaken, I don’t believe the Japanese planes from sz37 can legally move to sz33 as they don’t have any guaranteed landing spot.

    It doesnt have to be guaranteed, only potentially available. And when the DD off sz6 clears the path, the 2 Carriers from SZ6 can provide 4 landing spots.

    @Elrood Hmm, is Global different from the previous A&A versions? I thought you had to show the carrier could move to pick up the planes even if you lost all the other battles.

    @redrum

    If it were as you said, you could never attack using your (needed) ACs. E.g. you move into open sea with carrier and 2 figs against 10 subs. You would be most certain to lose the battle and your carrier and thus the planes. But is legal.

    You can assume you win any battle when making moves. So the attack on sz20 (or waa it 22?) was necessary.

    Imagine ge would have sent 10 bombers against sz20. Would we argue then?

    The rules cannot acount for probability, hence you must assume the best possible outcome.

    @Elrood I can see your point. I guess I thought it was the other way around where you had to assume the worst possible outcome so even if you attack sz22 with 100 bombers, you couldn’t use that as a potential sz to move through for showing a potential carrier movement to pick up fighters.

    @redrum no problem. These part of the rules rarely become relevant and most people confuse them but tripleA implemented that part right. As opposed to the weird submarine blocked by cruiser bug… really weird

    The relevant part of the rulebook, as correctly pointed out by @Elrood , is

    A fighter or tactical bomber can move its full 4 spaces to attack in a sea zone instead of saving movement, but only if a carrier could be there for it to land on by the conclusion of the Mobilize New Units phase.

    As the attacker you need to prove during Combat Move Phase that all your planes might have a valid landing spot. For this purpose you maybe need to prove that carriers might be able to pick them up.
    You are allowed to assume that all your shots are hits and all your enemy’s shots are misses. You can assume that all necessary battles to reach that target will be successful.
