    @redrum : yeah… it felt kinda onesided from the start… Germany had their way with Russia while poor Japan took all the heat…

    If i had to point to specific issues that Allies had:

    • no pressure on Germany on its western front… never had to spend anything on defense… not even to defend rome…
    • too many boats (those are useless on Europe side of the map…once Japan is contained)
    • too many emotions after Caroline attack 😉

    @Elrood Yeah, my plan was to pressure Japan enough to take the South Pacific and control India. Then turn to deal with Germany. Unfortunately, losing most of the US fleet in the Carolines delayed that by probably 4-5 turns which meant game over. We really should have just resigned after the Caroline mistake.

    @redrum i thought that was not that much of an issue. That battle also meant japan lost a lot of its planes and UK could hold much longer.

    I had a similar situation with Germany when i killed the allied fleed in sz97. It sure gave Italy and West front altogether a breather, but i lost a lot of planes and could not pressure Russia as much as I wanted.

    Essentially: every strong move somewhere comes (or usually comes) with an opening somewhere else. Imho the secret is for the opponent to be ready to close in on the opening properly fast enough to gain from it.

    A&A has some depth there which is not as obvious I think.

    @Elrood -80 TUV is a pretty significant swing. I think if you go back and Japan doesn’t attack there its a completely different game. I also think once the US lost that battle, the game was essentially over barring the Axis making a significant mistake.
