I’m not sure why I even try to play this game during the work week. I don’t have the time to double or triple check everything. The combined Japanese fleets from SZ 6 & 36 and supporting air are stronger than I calculated before the US-36 CM. Clearly, I missed something and need to reconsider the US-36 NCM.
Sure, fine with me. A&A has gotten so much more complex over the years, with naval and air bases increasing movement allowance and new units. Plus the sheer size of our forces makes the inputs for battle calc take longer.
Japan building all fighters for scrambling and no ships this past turn. was overly defensive. The extra planes exceed my CV capacity, so can’t participate in an attack, since you can control the nearby isles A few more ships would have given me better odds. A poor dice result can be more forgiving in a land battle, than a naval battle, since retreating planes can land where the ground troops came from, while CV planes usually can’t reach land. So Japan attacking without overwhelming odds is risky, when my position is secure and I don’t need to take unnecessary risks.

That was a tough turn for Japan. Besides not taking Mariannas, I’ll lose 4 transports altogether. And your outnumbered defenders in Guam, Paulau and Kaz all took attackers down with them. But the firepower I can bring against the Carolines next turn is much greater than I could this turn, both in builds and bringing more bombers to bear. The U.S. increased its potential offense against sz6 with the new CVs and fighters.
