    Well, that was a pretty big error on my part. To me that northern Japanese fleet looked safe, or at least extremely expensive for the US to take out. If I had realized, I guess I could have tried stacking up one more sea zone to the south, although in the long run I’m not sure how much good that would have done – it’s not like Japan has a ton of money to spend on boats anyway in this position.

    I think I mis-played the Japanese campaign against the Dutch somewhat; I meant to take the Dutch capitol on turn 2 with a combined Yamamoto + Hisachi assault, but I flinched, and I think the resulting delay turned out to be more costly than I was expecting. I also obviously blundered in Siberia by building a factory on a square that you were able to conquer. If I had realized the game was so close, I would have counted up and sacrificed some planes in Leningrad and/or West Iran to try to hold onto those factories – I was getting a little cocky and overconfident, and I assumed that I’d have plenty of time to slowly push you back, but now the board looks more like a race – can the Axis knock out London or Moscow or Calcutta before Japan totally collapses? I’m leaning pretty heavily toward “no.”

    I’ve got lots of strong advantages in many different spots on the board, but I don’t think even all of them combined are enough to compensate for a near-total collapse of the Japanese maritime position, which is what looks like is on its way after losing that fleet with the American fleet still intact. You may have me this time! We’ll see soon enough.

    Your idea of relying on super submarines as the primary American Pacific transport is very creative; until I played you, I didn’t even realize super subs come with a transport slot.
