@dan-hamilton Hi Dan! Welcome. I’m also a newbie here, so good to see another fresh face. :)

  • @djensen

I’m from Massachusetts (South Coast and Cape Cod Canal areas). I started playing A&A in the mid 80’s. Played like a maniac in the mid 90’s, and then only rare times for the rest of my life, usually with people who have never played.

I own original (two copies), Anniversary, and Global.

I have no one to play with. I watch YouTube videos and finally opened up Global and set up and started reading the rules.

I love the customizations in all of the videos so I just started my own customizations.

I’ve visited this site for many years but only recently signed up.

@dazedwit Welcome! I’m also new here, and glad to see another new member!

    Hi dazed
Welcome to the Boards : )

I know it’s not the same as Face to Face, but you can play online, if/when you don’t have an opponent, with triplea.

    Here’s some info:

    Hello everyone,

A&A super geek here. I’ve played A&A since I was 12 years and 2 days old, starting as Russia in Classic on Friday December 11th, 1998.

My 17 month younger brother is also an A&A-addict, and we were both blessed to have another ardent A&A-player and addict under the same roof for years, providing the easy access to hundreds and hundreds of games.

I own at least one copy of every A&A version ever published, including reprints and 2nd Editions. Wife shakes her head at my closet.

Global 1940 is my favourite, with Anniversary Edition as number 2. Classic and Old Europe are nostalgic favourites.

I’m originally from Kristiansand, Norway, but I’ve lived in Atlanta, GA of the glorious U.S. of A. since 2013.

I’m the facilitator for the MeetUp Group called Axis & Allies Atlanta, and we host a lot of tabletop games. We have several huge enthusiasts here that have dedicated entire spaces of their house to A&A, so we’ve fortunate to enjoy a lot of good gaming.

Looking forward to any game put out by Larry Harris. WarRoom should be awesome!

  • @djensen AdmrlScuttlebut here. First I want to apologize to Admiral Seabass for picking a user name so similar to his. I am a retired Navy CPO and when I chose this handle I didn’t know of any others using a similar moniker.

I funny thing happened on the way to the forum… I gave my first sets of A&A 1940 to a worthy cause to spread the joy of our hobby! Two brand new ones arrive thursday so I can continue my journey.

I just ordered a copy of the new French unit sets from Doug at Historical Boardgames. Thank you Doug for this wonderful set! Well back to the videos to learn how to play and absorb those strategy tips. Thanks to everyone that makes them!

  • Hello all,

First time here…my name is Daniel and I’m from Wisconsin. I have fond memories playing Axis and Allies classic when I was a younger. I recently ordered the Anniversary edition and am looking to exchange ideas and minds with other WW2 history-loving gaming enthusiasts and war strategists. Recently I have played a lot of Hearts of Iron 3 (on PC) but I long for the nostalgia of playing A&A again. Nothing beats the excitement of playing a game in person with fellow history buffs. Hit me up if you’re in or around Kenosha, WI (SE corner of Wisconsin, between Milwaukee and Chicago) and are interested in playing. Would be nice to find others passionate about the game and history since my family isn’t as much as I am (I’m trying to get my nephew into it).

Have a great day and game on! :)

    Sincerely,
    Daniel

    Hi everybody,

    I’m Tobias from Germany.
I played my first A&A in the mid-90s and got re-introduced to the game in about 2011-2012 when a colleague invited to play the game. Playing Japan in the first game with no clue what to do I started to look out on the internet to find some strategies.
Boy, I would love to see how we all played this game back then. I guess we forgot to put the Chinese fighter on the board as well as the Naval base at the Philippines:D If I recall correctly I made some crazy excursions in J2 to Canada and fought for California for 1-2 turn while doing a J1 DOW LOL. I found a way for the J1 DOW in this forum and that is the way I got introduce to this community.
Later, I guess in 2012/2013 I learned about the tripleA online client and league play. At first, I played with a friend in the online live client before I found out about the option to play less stressful league games.
I played my first league game in 2013. Since then I participated in every season.

Next to 1-2 games 1941/1942 on a board game I have played G40 global online exclusively. Since last season, I play BM only, because I believe BM is a great addition that does not only make the game more balanced but also just a better game in general. Kudos to the creators of BM!

    Cheers,
    Tobias

  • Hello there, Andreas here from Sweden!

I use played original A&A as a kid growing up and have fond memories of the game. Was recently re-introduced this summer by @trulpen after buying G40 and having my first go in over 30 years. Since then we have done PBEM-games and I just started my first League match.

Doctor not just by name, but also by trade. Amateur historian and avid strategy gamer. If you want to have a go in a PBEM league-match or just friendly, feel free to PM me.

    Regards,
    Andreas “Doctor_Oda”

  • I am dicebot.

  • Hello, been on the forum for close to a year but I haven’t really introduced myself yet.

I live in Phoenix AZ and I’m always open to play with other players. I currently play about once a month, but I want to play way more.

    Currently I own
Axis And Allies Europe 1940 (2nd)
Axis And Allies Pacific 1940 (2nd)
    Axis And Allies Classic (2nd)
    Axis And Allies D-Day (2nd)
    Axis And Allies Nova
    Axis And Allies & Zombies
    Axis And Allies 1941

But I do plan to get more and to soon get some games from HBG and I will play any game.

I’ve been playing Axis And Allies for two years when I looked up WWII Board Game online and I’ve been loving the game ever since

  • Hello, my name is Michael Phong Mitchell. I am from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). I lived in the states most of my life. Now, I am back in my city of birth again. I would love to play against anyone one on one in the classic Axis & Allies for now until I can get comfortable with the game once again. Once I am comfortable with the game again, I am willing to expand to other Axis & Allies games. The one game I am willing to try out is Axis & Allies: 1914, the game I have always been wanting to play!! I have never heard of it until I came to this site. I also would love to play Axis & Allies: 1939, a scenario before Hitler invaded Poland. I am also willing to try out Axis & Allies: Global War 1936-1945. The latter two are the one I have been wanting to play so very badly!!

The only Axis & Allies game I had ever played was the Classic Axis & Allies: 1st and 2nd Edition (1984). I have not play in ages since I had no one to play against and I usually played by myself. I only played against one person who was evenly matched with me so we would win with the Allies. Only once did I lose with the Allies because I was rusty. I have always wanted to play the game again as it is my all-time favorite war game. I want to test myself against other players to test my skills and strategies. I am very adaptable in the game. I have been trying to find an android game of Axis & Allies, but there are no Axis & Allies games, only similar games like World Conqueror 2, 3, and 4, my most played World War II games.

My Facebook is Mikey Phong Mitchell if you want to make friends with me. Please let me know you got my FB on here. I do not accept random friend requests at all. I am trying to get in touch with my game friend whom I played Axis & Allies with.

Hello. My name is Russell McKee. I live in Alabama. I’ve been playing A&A both online and F2F for a long time starting with the old Hasbro days. I own and play all the major A&A games but I’m still learning the finer points of Global 40. It was a crushing blow when GTO bit the dust… It’s hard to find players these days. I am super excited to see 42SE incarnated as a online game especially with LH GenCon 3 setup.
I’d like to play live a couple of times a week (US Central Time; GMT-6 during the winter) and have a couple of async games going as well. I’m mostly a consumer of Forum content.

    Hi rem400.

    Welcome!

Would you consider joining the G40 league? It is a great community that will gladly help you get things set up in case you need assistance.

    Give it a try!

  • @CrazyIvan, like you, I also am looking for those who play the classic version as it is the only one I know of. I do not know how to play the newer versions. If you like, we can be friends on Facebook and discuss when we can play against each other. I hope that we can arrange for a time to play against each other. I would like to play the Axis when we first play against each other. My gaming Facebook is Dana Phoenix, the name of my Archer in Dungeons & Dragons and Dungeons & Dragons Online. Anyone can add me as a friend from this site, but you need to let me know who you are first before sending me a friend request.

  • @djensen Greetings All!
My name is Phil Hammond and I have been playing historical miniatures and board games since I was in High School a long time ago in a galaxy far away. My major in interests in Axis & Allies is in the Air War games (Angels 20/Bandits High) and War at Sea though I have played the original Axis & Allies traditional. I was sad to see my two favorites get dumped by Wizards at the Coast but they survive on the secondary market. Last gaming convention I attended I managed to run an Axis & Allies Air War in the Med game and this coming year I will be running a Cactus Air force Pacific scenario at another convention.
As a special note, if you shop around you can get into Air War for as little as $10 for a starter pack thanks to Black Friday deals right now.

When not playing Axis & Allies I can be found playing SAGA Dark Ages, Bolt Action WW2, 28mm Ancients and various rules for 28mm ACW and AWI miniatures.
    Happy Holidays to all!
