  • With Japan not able to conquer anything I think this is over, but if you don’t mind let’s play it through another couple rounds. You’ve been showing me things I hadn’t seen before and I’m interested in seeing you follow through. But if you would rather move on to other or new games I’d be willing to concede here.

    Outside of that, I’d probably be interested in learning one of the newer A&A editions that seems to be more popular today; what would you recommend?

    That sounds great, we can play as long as you like! Global 40 is all the rage currently of course, and it is a fun game. I haven’t played anniversary in several years, but that was always one of my favorites as well.

    Some of it depends on how large of a game you want to play. I’m surprised how many people don’t play Europe or Pacific separately (versus “global”). I own the physical copy of that game, and on human terms it’s a lot less intimidating to only get half of it out when playing with friends lol.

  • Okay, it definitely does seem even more obviously over now. I concede; good game! I was fascinated because even though I haven’t played in a decade, I still felt like I had had a good grasp of the game from before and yet I learned a lot of new ideas from seeing you play on both sides. Thanks for the games! I think I will try to learn G40 soon next.

    Thanks for the games, Avin! It really was a fun trip down memory lane. G40 takes some time to learn the ropes, but once you have a grasp for the rules my suggestion is to just jump in and enjoy it. There seem to be a lot of strategies in it that are at least somewhat viable. There are some people putting together strategy “handbooks” on it, but the game can so quickly change in the initial turns that I think that is a very ambitious project.
