    Well, I think this one’s a foregone conclusion. It was a game of embarrassing mistakes on my part. For all my playing I can still only count all the times I’ve had to deal with Sea Lion on one hand. Obviously my Sea Lion counter strategy needs some work.

    Yeah it doesn’t seem to happen that often.  I’ve gone looking before for Sea Lion games from high level players to see how they do it but couldn’t really find any.

    I find it very risky compared to the reward.  When you bought an IC in Egypt plus a transport on turn 1 I decided it was now or never, but even then I couldn’t take London with more than 1 land unit remaining.

    Generally speaking I think you were in great shape if not for leaving the US fleet vulnerable and then giving me good odds on E. Poland.

    I think my take away is that I should never have taken Gibraltar with Italy.  It gave you the opportunity for an airbase and if it was in UK hands I could have bombed out the naval base and you couldn’t repair.

    Well, I think this one’s a foregone conclusion. It was a game of embarrassing mistakes on my part. For all my playing I can still only count all the times I’ve had to deal with Sea Lion on one hand. Obviously my Sea Lion counter strategy needs some work.

    Yeah it doesn’t seem to happen that often.  I’ve gone looking before for Sea Lion games from high level players to see how they do it but couldn’t really find any.

    Agreed. That was such a dumb mistake with the US fleet. I can’t even believe I did that since I know full-well to factor in that Italian bomber.

    As for the E Poland I didn’t even bother calculating the odds. I thought I had a good idea of what they were, but obviously didn’t. I think the Sea Lion thing had me completely rattled.

    I’ve done that same UK1 purchase a 100 times against all kinds of players, and no one’s ever tried doing the Sea Lion. I guess I just took for grated you wouldn’t, either. Note to self:  make sure you know the other fellow’s tendencies if you’re going to leave UK vulnerable.  :-P
