<![CDATA[Curling]]>I just watched Canada trounce Finland in a come-from-behind 10-3 victory in the 3rd end.  This doesn’t make up at all for our disgraceful hockey performance, but it was VERY nice to see . . . .

My point.
Curling has a lot going for it as a sport.  It requires dedication and hard work to even become good at it.  It requires grace, strength, balance, a keen eye, and a keen mind.
I would expect people on this board to have at the least a cursory interest in curling as once you are curling at the elite level, you are curling nearly perfectly.  At this point, it is all about strategy . . . .

By the way - nicely done on your Bronze US - it’s good for the game to see USAmericans get into it too.

it looks fun and all, but  why would you do it when you can simply do hockey?

no equipment necessary (aside from a broom, some stones, and a rink)
you can play co-ed
you can play injured (not very easily, but still)
you can be small or slow, and still excell at it
it is a completely different type of game.  The strategy is different, and rather than being in real-time, it is a turn-based game.
it is an easy sport to get many different people from different backgrounds to play (for office parties etc.)

i know i’m missing a bunch, but there are a few off the top.

Also - i missed the US girls curling team, but i’ve seen their hockey team, and they are absolutely LOVELY - even relative to our team.

It’s not bad to watch. It does not hit the same level I give the other events which require a complete dedication of ones life to get to the top of, but it’s not bad.
