Calling all British A&A Players! 🙂

These quarterly all day events are held in Derbyshire. Usually we have the number of players to get a couple of games going - usually one of 42.2 and another of either Anniversary or 1914.

Players of all ages and abilities welcome.

Just reply to this thread or message Private Panic if you would like to know more.

I really want to come over the pond sometime and play with you guys!  I’ve started the conversation with the wife and she says she open to it…

Hey DeAd - you would be welcome! 😄

Are you based in Vegas? I have never been west of St Louis.

Despite atrocious weather we had six players and played two games:

    1. Anniversary - 1942 variant:

Mark (Credulous) - Russia, US & China
    Mike (Aftertaste) - UK

Adam (Private Panic) - Germany, Italy & Japan

Since none of us had played the 1942 variant before the Powers were allocated at random with no bid.

Both sides struggled with bad luck. J’s turn 1 victories in the Indian Ocean, the Pacific and in China were very costly. Four of J’s starting 6 fighters perished in J1! 😮

R’s attempt to take the offensive against G (where the odds allowed) were similarly disadvantaged by the dice, with much loss of R infantry for little gain. 😄

    G and J bombing raids on Moscow lost 3 of 4 bombers in G3 and J3! 😢

On the other hand It took Egypt despite the odds being at best even. 8-)

Fortunately for the Axis, R’s infantry losses proved far more critical and Moscow fell G4, with 3 Bombers, 3 fighters and 16 tanks surviving. Meanwhile It ruled the Mediterranean and Middle East and J still had a slight advantage in the Pacific. The Allies surrendered. 🙂

So quick was the victory that it seems likely that the 1942 variant represents a considerable Axis advantage?

    2. 1914:

    Dale - GB & France
Jeremy - Russia, Italy & US

Dave - Germany, Austria- Hungary and Turkey

The Central Powers pursued a Russia first strategy. This was successful with Moscow falling G5.

In the meantime this had allowed the Western Powers to make inroads into G and A-H. Kiel, the Ruhr, Tyrolia and Trieste were all regularly occupied, sometimes by considerable allied stacks.

With the fall of Moscow, the CPs briefly threatened to overcome the allies. F & GB forces in Germany were pushed back. T continued its March on India and across North Africa. A-H, with some help from T, stemmed Italian incursions.

However, with US forces recapturing North Africa and then landing in Albania, a massive GB mobilisation in India stalling T’s advance and G’s loss of an over extended and unsupported stack in Alsace, the tide turned once again in favour of the allies.

With time having run out Private Panic was asked to adjudicate a winner and pronounced the Allies the victors. 😛
