    Well, looks like that’s it for the Allies.  No way I can get India or Hawaii back this turn.  It was a good game, quite enjoyable.  I don’t think I’ve ever had a game before where S America played any significant role.

    One could take issue with Larry Harris’ design for S America, to be sure.  There’s no way land units should be able to get from Argentina to Colombia in a single turn, considering the distance, and that they’d be traveling though 1000s of km of dense jungles with no roads or trains, or having to cross the Andes instead (if the Himalayas are uncrossable, I’m not sure why the Andes would be). Equally unrealistic that land units can cross the Darien Gap from Colombia to Panama, when even today that isn’t possible.  But oh well, I doubt Mr. Harris anticipated S America being an issue in any game, and it certainly wasn’t the deciding factor in this one.

    You’re correct that the game doesn’t take terrain into account at all, but that’s because adding terrain rules would slow down game play considerably. For instance, India and Burma were virtually all jungle back in the day and has no roads either – Japan could make no headway there because it was a slog. China was the same way.
