Don’t worry Worsham. You are very passionate about the subject and I am still learning.

Hope you are having a good weekend. The 4th tomorrow….
I’ve always found it interesting that the confederate army at Manassas was the Army of the Potomac, while the Union army was the Army of Northeastern Virginia. It’s like afterwards, both commanders decided to switch names.Â
And on a similar note: “Many [Confederate volunteers] were from state militia outfits which had their own state-issued uniforms, and in the early battles some Confederate units who wore dark blue uniforms were often mistaken on the field of battle for the enemy. Conversely, many Union units which were originally militia units went to war wearing grey.”
He gave Barron an advantage, knowing his eyesight was not good: he did not take the usual number of steps, so making himself a bigger target.
Probably cost him his life and the US a great Naval Officer.
Who knows: could he have been as good as Nelson?
He seemed to fight like him.
This is the last day for the Alamo letter to be on display. The famous letter written by Will Travis 177 years ago has returned to the Alamo for the first time since it was sent out. It has been on display from the 24th of Feb. thru March 7th. I saw it on displayed on live video like some kind of shrine. There appears to be constant security right there with it at all times. I did not know that the letter still existed.
A heck of story. We talk about heroes and bravery now, everyone is a hero it seems. No, going after a pirate in two small ships with no cannons so you could engage in hand to hand combat….THAT is brave and heroic.
