  • I PM’d Ghostglider, but will share this for observer’s benefit:

    I keep track of TUV after each UK turn in each of my games.
    This game is remarkably close, as measured by TUV, going by all the data and experience I’ve collected.

    Range of TUV difference has been 511 (turn 1) to 272 (turn 9)
    Current difference is 432.  Average difference for all 15 rounds has been 405.
    My research has shown that if the Allies can get 500+ ahead and stay there (or pull away), it is the mark of an Allied win.

    Axis win is marked by a TUV difference of less than 400 for several rounds (and decreasing).

    So the fact that the difference has been about 400 throughout the entire game seems to indicate that this is a remarkably close game.  The closest I’ve ever been in since keeping track, and yes that includes a couple games I have lost.

  • I finally got around to finishing my audit of convoy rolls and AA (and air vs. air battles).

    Convoy rolls on the whole have actually favored me slightly (like roughly 10 IPC’s over 15 rounds).
    You have done 106 IPC’s of damage to me by convoy disruption, while I have done 54 to you.

    AA luck (and counting air to air battles) really hurt me early, as I took 4 hits out of 9 through G5.  2 were just Japanese planes over Java, but 2 were German bombers.

    You only lost the 1 UK fighter in an air battle through USA13 out of 22 shots.

    But since G5 for me and since USA13 for you the 1’s against aircraft have evened out somewhat.
    For the game I’m at 11/62 or 17.7% for mine getting hit and you are at 4/30 or 13.3%

    I’m not making a case for anything - I didn’t analyze all the regular battle dice nor will I - just thought my findings on convoys and AA (which are much easier to track, and is some of the most visible and memorable dice rolls) were interesting.

    Makes me feel better after losing yet another bomber to AA when only flying 2 or 3 at a time  :-P
    Between G5 and G14 you missed me a lot


  • I guess what I am saying, is I’m admitting that the actual results aren’t quite as bad as what they feel like.  Like probably almost all players, I feel like I’m getting worse luck than I actually am, because of self-bias  :roll:

    So going back and doing a review helps put it in perspective and helps me be less frustrated about the dice.

    I’m not concerned with keeping a navy in the Med - the only thing that would be bad for me is to build up a big one that gets crushed
