    Just to remind everyone; it’s strat raids first, followed by amph assaults and combat to clear those szs, and then everything else. You can resolve the battles in any order within those 3 tiers, just can’t mix the tiers themselves up.

  • I belive that we may have to continue this particular battle via the forum. Triplea forces casualty choices for the bombardment separately from the rest of the attacking force. Per the rules however, all casualty choices for this battle should be made at the same time. Which means I should be able to see the rest of the rolls before making any choices.

    Not so, Seth.  Bombard it it’s own phase.

    Rule:

    Roll one die for each battleship and cruiser that can
    conduct bombardment. Battleships hit on a die roll of “4”
    or less, and cruisers hit on a “3” or less. For each hit, the
    defender will move a defending unit behind the casualty
    strip. These casualties will be able to defend during the
    land combat step before they are eliminated.

    Really?  Hmm… well, this one would have been huge if we had done better.

    If you’re going to pick battles to show how lucky I’ve gotten in Europe, at least try picking some better examples.

    Go back and check the odds and average results on those battles por favor. On average I should’ve lost an extra air off the sz97 battle. Not a huge difference from the expected outcome. That was equaled out in the the TrJ battle when I lost an extra air unit above the average result. I brought a ton of air into both battles so I had numbers as well as punch in both battles. So it shouldn’t be too surprising that that overwhelming force was able to knock out the defenders in 1 round in both those battles.

    As for Egy, I’m not sure if you’re talking this most recent battle or not. If you are, well that’s one battle that really skewed in my favor over the expected outcome and only my shortsighted choice of a bomber kept the losses about equal.

    But sure, conveniently forget that UK took zero losses on UK1 against both German and Italian targets. Let’s forget about how Yugo got 3/3 hits against the Italians or that the French killed 2inf, aa attacking into Holland with just the inf, art and then killed 2 more mech defending against a German attack with air support. Or the battle in Epl which pitted about equal forces against each other somehow cost Germany 8inf, aa to Russia’s 4 inf. Oh both sz110 and sz111 as well as Paris and sz93.

    The Gibraltar stand was nice but just a 50/50 battle. And Sudan was not expected to actually be taken either. That’s it, everything else has been a wash or in the allied favor.

    Italy is being or will be reviewed by my partner and I expect to post shortly.

    Ah, it’s fun the complaint about the dice.  In risky battles like Egypt, you hope sooo much,…. and then POW!  The dice kill you… that’s why I said what I said.  8-)
