In my first Europe game, the Allies won after 16 rounds. When the US liberated France, giving them 4 extra men and their economy back, they did help by attacking and taking Western Germany. The next round, USA was able to move through Western Germany and take Berlin. Germany was not able to properly defend it’s territories, even Germany itself, because of so much stuff committed to the Eastern Front. Moscow did eventually fall, but it took Germany a long time to get there and cost them a ton of units in the process. Plus, the very round Moscow fell, the US took Berlin.
One strange thing about this game was that London was never liberated. Once Germany took London, they built a strong force of infantry there and the US decided to bypass that to take Rome, liberate Paris and go after Berlin. The German navy was decimated and the Atlantic was totally controlled by the US so all those troops on England were pretty much stuck there. On the very last round, after taking Berlin, the US had enough forces left in the area and they liberated London. Technically the game was over though because the final German round to see if they could retake their capital had passed. It was really impossible for the Germans to retake Berlin because what was left of their forces were way east in Russia.
In my second Europe game, the Axis won in 8 rounds. So with those two games, it kind of goes along with history. Shorter game/war, Axis victory. Longer game/war, Allied victory. One big thing that did the Axis in was that they were planning on a short, quick war to achieve their goals. When the war dragged out, the greater Allied industrial and mineral resources told.
SZ 106 2SS
SZ 111 SS, 2 Bombers, BB, FTR, Tac (can divert 1 Bomber to 109 to help prevent scramble)
SZ 109 2SS, 2FTR, 2TAC
Yugo: S. Germany units and Romania FTR (so it can go to S. Italy)
All available mechs/tanks, and remaining inf at France with Tac/FTR
Why risk S. France with 3 tanks? Save S. France for IT.
Yugo is an overkill. Why 9inf in needed for support (where are the other 3 coming from, and why isn’t 6 from S. Germany enough)?
I was taught that it’s better to eliminate the DDs to help choke off UK with your SS(hence why I left 110 open). Yes, I know the 110 ships run like hell…
70IPCs is plenty of cash for 10art,7mech.
While I know risking a plane to France’s AA is a risk, I like a quick battle so maybe I don’t have to dig into arts when I lose all my inf (trying to avoid a 2nd RD resistance)
I’m by no means an expert an global, it’s just something I used/learn.
The major hole in my game was defending Moscow. Only held it once.
A couple of other oversights like not anticipating amphibious assaults. Particularly one where I could have sacrificed a cruiser to kill a transport and thin the assault but didn’t.
thank goodness then. So then its an even bolder (and less incorrect statement of)
Taking the 3 soviet far east territories that don’t border Mongolia has few, if any consequences for Japan.

There is a major IC in Paris. This isnt possible with A2 rules. Captured Major IC turn into a small one.
Really. I didn’t see that one in the rules I downloaded. No Majors in non native territory can be built. but France falls to a minor? Didn’t see that one at all.
Holy crap your right. I guess it only mattered for France since Britian did not fall or russia. Not sure if we placed that many forces there anyway. Because the Germans did not build that many forces there throughout the game. The italians moved troops in, well maybe before berlin fell late in the game the Axis player on turn 9 may have built more forces there, but largely he used the Italians to defend western Europe and built germans in West germany to defend Denmark.
Ultimately I don’t think it impacted our game or its outcome, but will note that for the future!!!
This game is about economics. You need easy and cheap victories, while giving none yourself. Don’t buy transports if your dad will sink them easily, you would be better holding one turn for a following turn larger purchase or buying aircraft. For Germany, hit where you have the best chance to win and take the most cash. Use the NO’s to guide your grand strategy. But other posts above are correct, there is a tipping point where all you can do is slow down the inevitable Allied win. There are some good posts here that can guide your next game.
