Why not have a more realistic lend/lease.  Load up transports and escort them across the oceans and deliver money, units, supplies…etc.  During lend lease phase load transports with money and escort them…maybe 6-8 movement…Each transport can carry 10 IPCs. This would slow the lend lease down some and would make the intervention more realistic.  Of course if a transport is sunk the cargo is lost!! A US lend lease convoy that is attacked would not bring the US into the War early.

  • Its a great idea and realistic, but it’s also more rules. Too many rules now IMO.

  • No, its not more rules, but it is more boring non-combat and unnecessary moving and administration of units that are better modeled by convoy boxes

  • Gona play test the 1 fort and strict neutral rules and play with normal lend lease rule.

Still think US should only get to send a certain amount every turn or lower there max allowable with die rolling. It would help US with some build before they finally get in the game.

It wouldn’t be boring non-combat movement for the US….they dont do anything til turn 5-7 anyway…would be a cool dynamic to add for the US player.

  • I agree. Other games I have use transports that way. US would have to buy ships for protection and it would cut down on lend lease.

It might hurt the FEC though.

If anyone is interested in playtesting this pm me your email and ill send you the proposed 7.2 with the lend/lease change.

  • I like how lend lease is now because it’s simple but really fun because u never know the die rolls. Axis inheritance 8.25% of the time creates tension every roll

  • With this new lend lease rule US can send any transport from either coast? So if the whole fleet in Pacific escorts a transport from San Fran towards FEC and Japan has to decide to wether they want to attack the whole US fleet to kill transport or decides to let it go and now US is off the coast of India. So Japan can now kill the US fleet without going to war.
The movement is going to be key. It will change the game now with US ships everywhere.

Why in the name of Santa would USA send the whole T1 Fleet to India, just to get it sunk there ?

  • I wouldn’t do it but somebody mentioned it. Thats all

**––This is a much MORE INTERESTING and REALISTIC way to implement Lend/Lease and along the lines that I had planned to introduce as a Home Rule in my GW-39 games. IMHO it would increase the “Strategy”, as well as “Tactics” in the game. To me, it is along the same lines as having Capital ships take two turns to be built: It takes a little longer and and requires more “Planning”. Whether your attacking or defending convoys,…you will need to spend resources and time in order to do it.
----IMHO it opens up another aspect of the global battle,…much like I hope the “Island Warfare” expansion set will make pacific islands a new “battle zone” worth fighting over.
----OIL RULES are another aspect that will make battles worth fighting in areas that wouldn’t be considerred without the Oil (and other) resources.
----IMHO,…This game, GLOBAL WARFARE-1939 is by far the BEST A&A VARIANT and the FUTURE of A&A gaming!

    Tall Paul**

  • Tall Paul, I’m thinking along the same lines as you are.  When I finally get to play, which won’t be for a long while mind you, it will be a totally different experience than all the previous games I’ve had.  This concept will probably be implemented in some way or another for me.

Btw, Global 1936 is looking very promising as a good successor to 1939.  I’m not on Crackbook (my term for Facebook lol) so I can’t really spread the news about it efficiently.  I’m sure many of us are looking forward to it as being the future of awesome A&A :).

Like you guys, I’m interested in seeing how a re-vamped lend lease would pan out. Next year will be the bomb for new games, pieces and expansions.

Tall Paul, I’ve been waiting on the Amphibious Warfare expansion and dreaming on how the Pacific Islands will be fought over. I already have some of the pieces which could be used. This, along with the other expansions, and the new map will make the game truly epic.
