This is the last day for the Alamo letter to be on display. The famous letter written by Will Travis 177 years ago has returned to the Alamo for the first time since it was sent out. It has been on display from the 24th of Feb. thru March 7th. I saw it on displayed on live video like some kind of shrine. There appears to be constant security right there with it at all times. I did not know that the letter still existed.
Happy Independance Day!!!

Here’s an anecdote along the same lines, and which is timely because July 4 this year coincided with the last stages of the World Cup. Some years after WWII (I don’t know the exact date, and I can’t even verify the authenticity of this story), Germany defeated Britain in a World Cup final game. Up in the broadcast booth, a German sports journalist turned to a British colleague and said, “Aha, we’ve beaten you at your national game!” The British journalist replied, “And we’ve beaten you at yours – twice.”
