Speaking of the US, once the US starts getting its bonus income for being at war, it’s nearly impossible for Japan to fend off the assault (assuming US dedicates all of its IPCs to the Pacific theater). Would it be a good idea for Japan to do a quick, preemptive strike on the US homeland, Pearl Harbor style?
I’m thinking no, but if it’s worked for you I’d like to hear how you did it…
Japan needs to take Hawaii or Sydney to get a VC win, thats all you need to do with the US in the Pacific - stop either of those from happening, spend the rest of your resources sending the US into N.Africa, and once big enough Rome. Italy is going to have to choose between pulling back from taking Egypt or taking the chance the combine UK/US forces take Rome as early as round 5/6
In games with big bids for the Allies (35+ PUs), it is possible to hold Yunnan by adding in an additional Chinese art plus flying in an additional two or three Russian planes that were bought before the game started. If Japan pushes all of their units to Kwangsi on J1, the Allies will have to vacate Yunnan before J2 or face annihilation. However the Chinese can counterattack or strafe Yunnan on Ch2 since the Japanese air force can’t land in that territory, seriously harming Japan’s ground strength in Mainland Asia.
Russia will have to methodically retreat back towards Moscow for the first three rounds with this plan. The upside in Europe is that the US can execute a KGF plan since there is less urgency in the Pacific theater.
correction in 112 reason, you will need to judge whether you can afford to lose air or a ship if he is lucky enough to get 2 hits. Just remember what you bought and how much you can afford to replace air. I would lose a ship over air cause a ship does not help you sealion or barb as much as your air does.
