Oil Economy

Right. I’m gonna go off of my 1942 reports I saw plus 1940 but if one did less will
Make a note of it since I can’t find a 41 report.
For basically be like
US. 3 oil 3 iron 1 copper 3 wheat
Uk. About the same but will have rubber
Ussr. Same for rest
Axis same but less for Italy and japan. Japs will have to go for oil iron and wheat which they can

So basically values are
Iron 2
Oil 2
Copper 2
Rubber 2
Wheat 1
Needs testing on g40 map and somebody to try out.
You have 3 iron, 3 oil & 1 copper =
14 but can only use up to 3 resource tokens per piece. So iron value is 2, oil is 2 and copper is 2 which equals 6 and any piece but Inf can pay 6 less for. So BB 14 or CR 6 or a free tank or use 4 for an art and use the extra 2 on another piece.
For wheat it costs Inf only 1 less icp for using each token or 1 wheat and 1 copper gets u a free Inf.

This topic is very interesting. Mainly because the German “Wehrmacht” hat great difficulties with fuel shortages.
I would say, as long as you are not in control of at least one oil field your tanks can not “blitz” and aircraft can only fly defensive missions (or there should be a restriction how many spaces they can fly - for instance -1 for bombers and fighters)
There should be a rule which allows you to make a strategic bombardement of the oil fields.

That is a very interesting idea. I would like to hear more of it :)

House Rule for Global 1940:
Oil Refineries can be built in any of the below Territories that have been controlled for at least one round.  Only one Refinery per territory.  This unit increases the IPC value of the territory by 1.  The effects would be immediate, as the unit would be placed before the collect IPCs phase of the game. 
Territories enriched with Oil:
-All Dutch Islands
-Columbia, Venezuela, Bolivia
-Central US
-Scotland
-Western Canada, Alaska
-Alexandria, Cairo, Tobruk, Trans-Jordon
-Union of South Africa
-Romania
-Iraq
-Persia
-Caucasus, Ukraine
-West India, Burma

Cost: 3IPC
Movement: NA
Can be bombed and removed from play

Somebody have test 2 diferent IPC value, like oil? For example;
Infantry 5ipc
Tank 10ipc+5oil

Well, I may be mistaken, but it seems mathematically that when there’s already a nearly triple-percentage advantage in Allied economic power, extending that further only serves to deepen the advantage.

To illustrate, lets say in a battle you have 3 tanks and I have 1, a 3:1 ratio. I like your chances even better at 6:2 and 9:3, etc.

I like IL’s rules and I am going to use them with slight modifications.
Germany and Italy will use the oil fields of Romania. I also think that if they can trace a supply path to Venzuela, they would have oil.
Japan needs oil somewhere, give them oil from Russia and the us until certain times of the war , then when they are at war, they must have oil secured or serve penalties.
Penalities would be either moving only half their pieces they require fuel or make them all move a limited range.

1.  Where did you get the “buttons” your pieces are glued to?  I can’t find anything thats close.  I even thought about painting pennies or nickels (US 1 cent or 5 cent pieces) to glue my pieces on. Would be cheaper than buying anything i’ve seen.

2.  Where did you get your pieces from.  And what size are they?  They look like 1/72 or 15 mm.  Having trouble finding good quality but inexpensive artillery, tanks, planes and ships.

Its all skytrex.com stuff  15mm infantry, 1/285 miroarmor, 1/2400 scale naval… about a buck each piece and if you place a large order shipping is free
