    Remind me to ask when this is all over why the Japanese DD is parked outside manila; I can’t figure out what advantage it provides that wouldn’t be better served doing something else.


  • I was wondering that myself this turn. Now that you ask, here’s what I think it was for. On J1 he was a blocker preventing the BB from using the Naval Base on Malaya to hit the undefended transports off Formosa. Normally I think I leave him on the Carolines so on the turn I DOW, I have a blocker that can reach 38 different seazones.

    After J1? I was confused as to what he was doing there so I just left him there.  :lol:

    I’d have to say this is not my normal playing style. But it’s been a couple months since I’ve played as the Axis, so I’m just piecing together some things done against me that I wanted to try.

    Once the dice start rolling, every plan is a hybrid anyway.

    FWIW, I feel like on C1, Yunnan is worth the zero IPC trade (-10 IPC fighter +3 IPC infantry +1 IPC territory +6 IPC bonus) and the loss of the irreplaceable Flying Tigers to hold for a turn. Once the Japanese airforce lands there, it’s gone until Japan decides it doesn’t want it anymore. Of course, it’s a moot point if another infantry comes along, too. China and Africa are the two places that you need overkill or risk getting diced because of the unit scarcity.

    A bit frustrating playing 6 countries yet only having 1 of them be allowed to actually do anything…

    Churchill makes a gamble in Africa that doesn’t pay off and once again relies on Eglantine price and her band of cockney moppets to guard the shores of England.  FYI, I had to open up edit mode again.  When I moved my planes from UK1 over to India, I had assigned them to the UK Pacific as the owner, which made them immovable UK2.  I had to replace them with UK Europe planes.

    I was surprised I didn’t get any rolls either.  When I download your file, I pick load saved game and then start local game.  Is this the wrong procedure?  It might explain why I get an error when I try to post the turn summaries.

    Ah… it is confusing since strictly speaking I have to start a new game every turn, I can’t just grab the save file and assume that everything is happening correctly behind the scenes.  I should start doing it the right way now.
