Can Italy Activate Argentina?

If Germany did not take France on turn 1 and bypass Poland there is no way they would win. France and UK would be able to build up and eventually the Germans would have to attack the allies. Believe me…if you dont take France on the first turn Germany is doomed.

Also, does Germany still collect income from finland and hungary when Germany activates them?  The rules seem unclear on those countries, but they clearly state that germany collects from romania and bulgaria.

All Axis minor countries collect their own IPC’s for themselves. When activated by Germany, German IPC’s increase per the counrties IPC value on the map. The Axis minor still collects IPC’s for their own army. Romania and Bulgaria are different in that they collect an increased IPC amount and Germany only gets the IPC amount on the map.

My dad has been living with my grandma for a while now (partly because of his divorce, and also to help grandma around the house). So we play there on the dining room table. My dad’s dream is to eventually get his own place again and convert any spare bedroom to an awesome war room and get a sweet custom made table. Would love to do all that myself too, but house is probably too small and wife would probably murder me!

Italy can build the Tobruk factory and take Greece. It’s becoming the new standard move for Italy.

However Italy can’t get move their navy now until turn 3 or 4. Even then they usually go into North Africa away from the UK.

I really actually like that the UK can hurt Italy now. However, both Germany and Italy are now too weak with navy. It just puts the game out of balance in Europe now IMO. UK now controls what Germany and Italy does too early.

Of course Japan has lots of extra fun in this scenario.

Good to know.  We had Japan activate Argentina our last game by flying a bomber with an infantry in.  Safe to say it was a pain for the allies to deal with.  It did give America access to neutral countries though, after Japan took them of course.

And do the bombers have to end in the same zone as the infantry that are unloaded.  Or can they “drop” the infantry and leave?

Example - Leningrad is captured by Germany, and in the NCM phase of the same turn, 2 german bombers with 2 regular infantry in Paris, fly to spain and activate two of it’s territories for the axis.

A Pro-Neutral CAN be activated by infantry in this way. The way the rules are written currently, it specifies only land units can activate them. Infantry are land units whether they walk in, fly in, or boat in. The rule simply prevents aircraft alone from activating.

Bombers DO NOT have to end in the same zone as the unloaded unit, but MUST begin the turn in the same zone as the unit and start from an AIRBASE. They would indeed “drop and leave” using normal NCM movement rules. Also, the bomber can not have participated in any other activity that turn per the Bomber Rules.

I may make a rule change where italy can be attacked by the allies immediately after the turn germany takes paris or is at war with russia.  This may keep italy at bay enough for the allies at the start of the game.  This needs to be play tested.

For G36 latest (v1.2) rules regardless of 36 or 39 start it is the same. There is no ‘activating’ of units or rolling for units. Minors align with or are controlled by a major power. Table 4-4 Alignment Sphere of Influence (p.21) describes who and how:

Allies:

Nations Align with the Allies if the Axis declare war on them.

Nations come under Allied Control if they are Attacked by the Axis but the Attacking power is not at war with the Allies.

US gets all minor powers in the western hemisphere.

The British Commonwealth gets all the rest.

Axis:

Nations Align with the Axis if the Allies or USSR declare war on them.

Nations come under Axis Control if they are Attacked by the Allies or USSR but the Attacker (Allies or USSR) is not at war with the Axis.

Japan gets Siam and Mongolia***.

Germany gets all the rest.

Comintern:

Mongolia and Republican Spain (if they won) Align with the USSR if any other nation declares war on them.

These two come under USSR Control if they are Attacked by anyone but the USSR is not at war with the attacker.

***Not specified in the rules but the only option that makes historical sense.

In addition, there are Special Alignment Conditions for over a dozen countries that are outlined on p.22-23, but Greece and Yugoslavia are not among them. So
