I still think you could do a matching set including the best medium and heavies available for the four that had them and for those that didn’t… (i.e. Japan & Italy) a medium-light (M 15/42 & Type 97 Chi-Ha) and a medium (P 40 & Type 3 Chi-Nu or Type 4 Chi-To)
Alternately, the Medium + Medium Tank destroyer might make sense. That would be my second choice, I think (after the Medium + Heavy option.) I guess I just always prefer as much logic and consistency as possible…
The pics are working just fine…
And this looks AWESOME Pac War! I would be interested in a “how to” and a cost estimate for making other games in this fashion. Please, let us know!
Unless it was mas produced, I don’t think that something like this would be cost effective. The material cost alone $45 and it was on sale! The hexgrid was drawn by hand (HOURS and HOURS of mindnumbing work) as were the other graphics. Stitching it all up was not particularly hard but there was zero room for error due to the fact that so much time went into the play area. “Oh well, I screwed that up. Just cut another piece of fabric.” was not an option. You would have to start from point zero. If I were producing this board for someone, I would not feel guilty charging $250 because it was so labor intensive. However, if you could buy cloth with a grid already printed at the price I paid, price would drow WAY down……figure $100. That would be $45 for material and $55 for time and graphics.
Considering all the feedback I have received from my first public release of Global Conflict on this form and other outlets, **I have now released my third edition of Global Conflict. **
It is much more balanced than before. Minor changes to setup makes Germany be a more threatening adversary. The Allied economic dominance has been addressed with modified convoy rules and also the edition of supply tokens. Long game play time has been addressed with a new turn sequence which should keep all players more involved with very little idle time. A close competitive game with five players can now be completed in less than six hours. (This does not including setup). Technology rules have also been modified. Three new units have been included. They are Mechanized Divisions, Air Transports, and Cruisers. (If you don’t have these units, replace all cruisers in the setup with destroyers, and ignore mechanized devisions and air transports. Play will still be balanced)
I hope all of you enjoy the game. And as always all comments, suggestions, and game reviews are welcome.
