  • Well, I think I’m on the losing the end of this game despite good dice.  I also don’t think what I’m about to do is a “winning” move.  I think I’d be better served to set up my Japanese fighters and sbr’s to do a sustained strategic bombing campaign against Moscow as I had planned.  However, you did not do me any favors by placing your Allied Pacific fleet with in range to be possibly sunk.  This is probably close to a 50/50 battle (which is probably closer than you would care for) _and_I do love to roll dice for large naval battles and this is getting the best of me….

    Well, i will tell you that after work, when i can open the map.

    Right now, i can tell you that i didn’t see at all that your planes in She could make it. Otherwise, i would never have put my fleet in here. With 11 hits, it looks like i’m going to get wiped…

    I tell you my losses in a few hours, when i’m home.


  • Well, now that we are past the point of me bombing Russia, I can tell you the airbase in She was so I could send those planes to Romania or Bessarabia on this Japanese turn. Then, I could get them in position for a sustained bombing campaign on Moscow. That was my original thinking by placing it there.  In no way did I anticipate you moving your fleet that close behind me.  Also, in no way does my 11 hits mean that I have won the battle.  I have 22 hits for 61 pips to start the battle.  So, I should have gotten 10 hits.  I was one above average.  You have 23 hits for 53 pips by my count, so you should get ~9 hits in return.  If you are around average, the battle will still rage on as you have 4 soak off hits to my 2 (3 if I actually sink my carrier with no attack value).  Anyways, I am learning a lot in this game.  Namely, my KAF is pretty easy to defend against and it really does take a long time to get to Moscow after doing Sealion.  I can see that it would most likely be round 12 at the earliest that I would have had a legitimate attack on it.

    Anyways, I await you OOL.  Who knows, maybe if I do win this battle I will be able to breath new life into Japan in next couple of rounds.

    Hmm…those 8@4 are way to strong…I really think i’m gonna lose it all.

    Ok, still at work, but managed to open the map…hope my boss won’t read this lol !

    This mistake - putting my fleet in range of so much airpower- is huge. It clearly gives you the boost you needed (eventually).

    Now, if i have to rebuild a complete pac fleet, i won’t be able to put all i can to retake london…

    Well, I knew going in that it was an iffy battle and dice finally went against me….as is always possible.

    I believe that I will surrender in this game now. Japan is a shell and Germany has a two front war to contend with and it is a ways from taking out Moscow (if ever).  I could go on and drag the game out but I do believe that you would be the eventual victor.  I don’t think I would get 8 VC in Europe before you took either UK or Italy or maybe even Cairo.  As I had said previously, I wanted to test my KAF and you spanked it even with bad dice!!!

    I did have a thoroughly enjoyable game with you and I would love to play against you in an Alpha +3 game.  If you do agree, would you mind if I was the Axis again?  I feel like I need to try for some redemption. :-D

    Wow ! I didn’t expected a surrender here…

    I will happily take it ! Thought it was going to take a lot more than that to win this one.

    I will be glad to play again with Alpha 3.

    You can start a new thread whenever you want and post G1.

    Just make sure you make all the changes in the set-up before starting.

    With Alpha3, however, unless i didn’t read it well, your KAF is dead (at least the way you play it)…no way you can come in a sz adjacent to US coast without declaring war.

  • By map, do you mean a new module for battlemap?  Otherwise Kobu had started a game with the Alpha +2 module and he redid the unit placements already.  That is what I was going to use.
