• Hey guys , this thread sort of touches on the topic of the whole tanks having a defence of 2 but that thread was locked before I could post.  Many of you disagreed with this as did I but it made me wonder why they came to a conclusion like this. Having the mech infantry to boost the defence to the original 3 made it obvious that they wanted the mech infantry to be more involved with the game. Here is my example which would hopefully explain an alternative. I am playing a game where I am the Allies. At the moment the Pacific is destroyed, America has Japan. Coversely Germany does have Russia and is 1 VC ( Cairo ) from getting the win on the Europe board.( and by having Russia I mean 2 German defending units and the rest rolling towards Cairo as fast as possible). My point here is America has a lot of cash and time is of the essence. If I was to pair a tank with an infantry I can fill a transport up and move them. Once they get to the destination however the tanks just leave the Infantry behind because they have got to be somewhere fast. Realise that it is important to have Infantry and Tanks fighting together. Now mech Infantry can move 2 territories with tanks but to get the same number of them as ordinary infantry you have to double the amount of transports to get them there which seems a bit over the top IMO as they are essentially infantry. This is where MAYBE mech and tanks could be transported together. I dont think this would make Infantry redundant either as they have there place as defensive fodder. The only issue may be that it is an advantage to the Allies . Also maybe have tanks boost mech Infantry permanantly to an attack of 2 instead of through a tech upgrade.
    What are your thoughts?? ( plus the cost for a mech infantry and tank is a neat $10 so why not try and keep them together)

    If you want mechanized infantry to be in the game, it needs to move 2 spaces without a 6 ipc tank. A) drop tank to 5 lower defense to 2 since it can now bring mech with it B) mech inf moves 2 without the need of a tank escort.

    @Cow:

    mech inf moves 2 without the need of a tank escort.

    For clarity.  Mech Inf moves 2 on it’s own regardless.  Just needs the tank to be able to ‘blitz’ while moving 2.

    IE:  Friendly -> Friendly -> Friendly/Enemy is okay.

    Friendly -> Enemy unoccupied -> Friendly is only okay with a tank, otherwise it stops at the first territory.

  • Oh heh. I just posted a new topic on Larry’s board about mech inf getting an attack boost with tanks.
