Also, can anyone convert the Alpha +2 setup picture? I can not open .AAM files. Thank you.

.AAM is not a picture file… it’s a save file for the free ABattlemap program.  You should try it out - it will allow you to move the pieces around as you strategize, etc.  You’ll also need Func’s 1940 Global module.

Thank you, now how do I get the Alpha +2 loaded… been having a hard time figuring that out.

Assuming you’ve installed the G40 module correctly (place the G40.gim folder in the ABattlemap folder with all the other .GIMs)…

File>Open> the .AAM file you downloaded with the Alpha+2 setup.

Actually, I haven’t tried the first one, but I downloaded Badspeller’s revised one and it looks like he used a different module to create the file - or actually it looks like he renamed his newer module (G40.gim) to the name of an older module (F40.gim) (not a good idea) - probably to continue a game he had going with the older module.  Anyway, the point is it looks like you’ll have to rename your G40.gim folder to F40.gim if you want to open BadSpeller’s Alpha+2 setup.

Thank you for pointing out that error, Stoney.
I have removed that post (with the file) so that it will not be downloaded anymore.

At the time I posted that file for Alpha+.2, I had not update the ABattleMap yet.

    Works, thank you

yep, here it is- please double check it- I think its right.

I’ve downloaded this and created a new .gim folder in the Abattlemap folder.  It doesn’t seem to work, when I load it nothing happens.  I am new to the program so I am sure I did something wrong.  If anyone could explain.

Also, I have the newest Abattlemap, as well as Func G40 Module.

    Thanks.

  • Note that my module is designed to work ONLY with OOB. The first original alpha can be also played because it only changes the setup, but you need to make the start.aam file

Alpha+1 and alpha+2 have both new NOs, new value for the aa guns, and even a new (and odd) turn order … the current G40 module doesn’t fit such massive changes. You can still use G40 for those versions, but do so at your own risk (risk of missing NOs, confusing turn order and such mess)

I plan release a definitive and clean version of G40 just for OOB by mid-late February. Since OOB is the only solid version of the game, I’ll not release more versions until Larry comes with a definitive, oficial and totally tested new version of the rules and setup. Reworking the NOs boxes needs effort, and I cannot make a new update each few days  :-)

The graphics for the final G40 map version will be plain and without letters or other disturbing graphic elements. Those ones that want to create a different graphic desing can send me their work. It will be included in the module pack as alternative map (and will receive the credit for it both in the forum thread and in the readme file)  :-)

.GIM folders are only necessary for holding module files.  .AAM files are not modules… they are save files made with specific modules.  you can save your downloaded .AAM file anywhere you want anywhere on your computer or any other storage device (though i don’t recommend putting it in it’s own .gim folder as that is just unnecessary).  to open it, open the program, go to file > Open, then navigate to the location of your saved .aam file and open it.  you will need the F40.gim module in order to open it, since that was the module used to create the file.

AA50 is still better than global. dang sucks we’re still at alpha+2. I just don’t like this map because it lacks action.

Mechanized infantry shouldn’t require tank escort IMO. Also multiplayer isn’t very fun whoever gets usa may as well write down his buys and go off for a couple hours to get groceries then come back. LOL.

Can we speed this game up? Is that too hard? I don’t mind a bigger map, but I do want to roll some dice at least.

Also having axis or allies win when they get so many vcs on one side of the map is what is bogging this game down.

Since the first A&A game was made, most games have been a race. Get russia before germany falls and vice versa. After that it is clear who will eventually win… sometimes you both russia and germany fall in the same round and you got to play it out for a bit more. uk usa vs japan.

yeah and I am going to cross out that (not including dutch) like so and pretend I didn’t read that.  Also I am going to pretend japan’s puppet state started with a minor IC as well.
