United Stated taking over the Dutch and French territories?

  • Not that i wouldnt want the British to get the money but an opponent wanted to occupy and administer the French Vietnam and some of the Dutch islands with the Americans on US1 before America was at war.

I suppose there are reasons like blocking the Japanese.

    Should we have allowed this?

  • You’d have to move land units there to control them. Did Japan not attack Z35 or the Philippines?

Also, the US can’t capture Dutch territories when they’re still Dutch

    i agree

  • Official Q&A

The same applies to French territories.  Also, a power that is not at war may not move units into another power’s territories or neutral territories.

Was US able to take FIC in P40 when it’s still French?

  • Official Q&A

    No.

  • Round one of that game japan did not attack the US or british. Japan was too busy eliminating 18 russian inf lol

So the US can’t move units on DEI or FIC (unless they are occupied by Japanese forces).

Au contraire, Brits and Aussies can take DEI and FIC putting their roundel there and grab IPCs… right?

Yes, the DEI are Dutch territories under the protection of UK/ANZAC and they can simply move in. France is an ally of UK so same goes for FIC (in Pacific). In Global its IPC’s are either for France or for an axis power (Japan).

DEI, yes (by special exception).  FIC, no.  This is true in both games.

So in P40, the British can’t take over FIC if it’s still French? The rulebook said they could

  • Official Q&A

    The errata says they can’t.

  • Does that also apply to Normandy or Southern France? If ANZAC or UK (or USA) moves in it reverts to France regardless if the French capital is under occupation? Does that also apply to other nations whose capital is occupied?

  • Official Q&A

All powers whose capitals are under enemy control work the same way.  If an ally recaptures their territory from the enemy, that ally gains control of the territory until the capital is liberated.  If they simply move into the territory while it is still under original control, nothing happens.  France in AAP40 is treated as a power whose capital is under enemy control.
