Oh then your not that guy…
This guy named randyjohnwayne on ebay claims he has games with upwards of 20,000 pieces at one time. He sells hundreds of pieces for AA games and hoards the good ones. I chatted with him on the phone before and i got some incredible stories of 1 hour battles just to resolve one freaking battle!
And no i have no idea how his games get to this level of madness. I guess his playing group does not like combat unless they get thousands of pieces.
I would surely love to see a picture of these so called “Battles”
Been a while since I played my AA50 game……
What I used was plastic grooved strips for the edge of paneling or wall board from Home Depot (very inexpensive). You can just use them across the top and bottom of the map to keep it together better.
For my g40 game I built a custom table that the map fit into (so it can’t move). I retrofitted an old pool table so the map it inset about 4 inches below the rails. Over the rails is felt covered plywood that is used for unit cases and dice rolling etc…
~$8 sq/ft is what I was quoted from several sources as well. So, for a 72x36 you’re looking at a pretty serious outlay of coin. Then you have to seal it.
Try this site - in the Play Boardgames section. (Or looking for games, there are a couple places). Like he said, ABattlemap has Classic. I haven’t played Classic online yet, but would probably be willing to, so I’m sure there are others…
