Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread

    @Imperious:

    I think it would be a good idea to make a family picture of all the Italian and separately German units, then lastly with the OOB pieces side by side so we can see the differences in size and the possibility of using some from both sets. Its hard to visualize them if they are not next to something we already know the size of for comparison.

    These pictures are being done.  As soon as the Final samples arrive (now I’m told next week  :x ) We have a professional photographer that will do these units justice…  including comparison shots for this forum.

    Thanks

  • @FieldMarshalGames:

    The German infantry unit with the Great Coat is not abandoned.  But it will not be part of this set.

    We are saving that for something SPECIAL and TOP SECRET in the future. I accidentally posted it out of excitement.

    I WILL NO LONGER COMMENT ON THIS SO DON’T ASK!

    A good hint could be different campaing units… like Operation Barbarossa (germans invernal units, hungarians, romanians, finnish, alpine troops for Italy, siberian troops for Soviet Union) and North Africa… 🙂

    Let me guess… pieces for the GIANT HEADS variant?

  • I am new to this forum but I have been reading you guys posts for years. I must say this piece project looks awesome. I have already ordered the Italians and by the looks of the Germans I know I will be ordering them as well. FMG stick with it your hard work will be rewarded.

    Welcome to the forum, GoSanchez6, nice to hear from you. FMG, I’m just about dying and going to heaven right now… Brrring on ze Germansss!  😄

  • Thanks for the nice words Lozmoid I appreciate it. Too bad on the German infantry with the greatcoat I think that has been my favorite one so far. Can’t wait for the Russians. How about a KV-85 or Js 2 armor piece. I am up for that.

  • Are you planing on making minor power pieces I.E. ANZAC or just the powers that come in AA50

    We will make all Nations of AA40 Games

  • If you are still having some models redesigned, might I suggest that the gun on the Tiger 1 be redone also? In my humble opinion, it just doesn’t look right.

    In all other aspects it looks great, but the gun looks like those early war tank guns, whereas the Tiger had a longer barrel and also that muzzle break or whatever it’s called.

    You’re doing great work, it’s just a suggestion.  🙂

  • im thinking the big coat will be avail in a elite set i.e. SS, marines, SAS…ect

  • I lost track guys who is next after the United States is it Russia or Japan. Thanks

  • i hope japan but i think its russia.

    @Raeder:

    and also that muzzle break or whatever it’s called.

    Close…it’s called a muzzle brake.  It taps propellant gasses when the gun is fired and directs them backwards to reduce the amount of recoil which is produced.

    I have decided to do UK after USA.  I want to finish the Europe powers first.

  • Is the reason the king tiger is in the background of its pictures, because it needs to get a little bigger?

    Yes, it is being fixed.

  • Thanks for the response FMG  I look forward to seeing a new and bettter looking Royal Navy and R.A.F. I have thought the british infantry has needed an overhaul for a while. BTW with these new pieces coming out and blowing away the old ones and also your combat dice. All you need FMG is a better map and rules and you would have the greatest Axis and Alllies ever. I vote for Axis and Allies. The Fieldmarshal edition.

  • same

  • and i dont care how much if would cost

  • I know it is a little late in the game to request this FMG but I had a great idea this evening. Forgive me if this has already been brought up. I think Axis and Allies control markers are cheap and what I have seen from your company my idea I think would be awesome. Picture this a German infantry unit holding a banner\flag with the iron cross or whatever German symbol you want on it. Use a decal to fit on the flag. Like my Napoleon in Europe game. Do every nation. Imagine looking at your board from a distance it may resemble some of the maps you saw generals pouring over during the war. If this has already been posted I apologize for wasting your time. I think these pieces would be fantastic FMG. Especially since what I have seen so far. Let me know what you think guys.

  • To continue my thought. Have the soldiers carrying flags using iconic images of the war.
    USA Marines on Mt Suribachi. U.S.S.R soldier planting flag in Berlin. Japan. Soldiers waving arms up in triumph around the rising sun. Germans. Soldier goosestepping with  banner.  Italy and Britain I will have to think about. France waving a white flag. Just kidding. What do you think FMG.

    If you’re really passionate about it GoSanchez, you might give it a go yourself. With Google Sketchup and Shapeways you can make your ideas come to life. It’s the future now, we can do cool stuff like this.

    So, instead of a little round control marker to mark your foriegn territory conquests, you would have a soldier with your country’s flag to mark all your conquered territory?  That actually sounds pretty cool.  I could just picture a bunch of little German flags on a bunch of Russian territories, or Japanese flags on Chinese territories.  That would certainly add a little more “fringe” to the game.

  • Hey KNP that is exactly what I think. I know it might create clutter but I think from a visual standpoint it would look awesome. I know that I am a little late to  the conversation on this subject but I have been reading this post for quite some time. I think what FMG is doing is taking Axis and Allies to a whole new visual level. This would add to that level.  If you want to use the current control markers thats entirely up to the players. I just think if you did these pieces in with the detail that I see so far it would be fantastic. On my last post I left out my vision for the Uk. Soldier blowing bugle while flag being raised. Just a thought. Thanks for the interest guys.
