  • Mormons don’t have a hell, so you’re gonna have to be a Muslim if you want the slayer concerts…or just go to a slayer concert, both should work fine.

So they do not believe in hell? Are this guys christian anyway?

    @Flashman:

We are still being brainwashed with the Biblical “sex is bad, violence is good” agenda.

They must have their little soldiers to hand…

It is not true. The Bible is not condemning sex. God created sex. The Bible has a lot of love, even erotic content. It just emphasizes it`s purpose, marital love between a man, and a woman, which unites them and in a miraculous way, gives life to another human being.

As for violence, it is an exception( The Old Testament) not a rule. It was practiced to keep the Jewish people on their (moral) path, but it was not there for itself alone. Judaism is not islam. Judaism is a religion of a God of love. Violence and fear, although present, are not the core point of judaism.

As for christianity, there is no glorification of violence. New Testament totally rejects it, even as an exception.

Well in the sense that they believe in Christ as the savior yes, but in other aspects it’s more of a 4th Abrahamic religion really.

So they are close to Jehovah`s Witnesses? Some mix of judaism, christianity and some ˝new stuff˝?

  • Sure. Although it’s pretty far away from Witness doctrine.

  • @DarthShizNit:

Yes, of course. But in the contest that they are not pure christian. Mormons would be closer to Christianity and Witness to Judaism. But they are let`s say 4th and 5th Abrahamic religion, a christian sect of some kind. In Witness case, some christian-judaist sect.

Well, aren’t they all sects?  It seems inevitable that they’d become so, in the scheme of things.

I explain it way better in my book: “Everything you wanted to know about sects (but were afraid to ask).”

  • Well, a sect would be a group that has turned away from original doctrine of some faith, but still uses some elements of this faith.

so we have judaist sects, christian ones, muslim etc.

But Christianity began as a westernised sect of Judaism, so all Christians are sectists.

From Jewish angle, yes we are a sect of judaism. Although christianity (in practice) is a lot different than judaism. And from our christian angle, judaism (today) is a form of heresy, since they deny the Christ as a Mesiah.

From neutral point of view, christianity is a new religion, created by Jews(ex judaists), but very distinctive in practice.

Our big three abrahamaic religions are similar but very different. Islam (in practice) is an attempt of a ˝global judaism˝ but is much more strict and harsh than judaism was.

I do believe that pretty much applies universally, however I was just making a sects joke.

  • I am always opened for jokes
