  • Have to agree with you on heavy bombers. Just plain destruction in a can once you unlock them. Long-range aircraft are okay, but I put my money on Industrial Technology. This “little” upgrade will save you many, many IPCs in the long run. And best of all, you don’t need bombers or fighters in order to enjoy its benefits.

  • I just got got an idea! Maybe each powers have specails. Like USA have amtotic bomb and Japen have Kamikazes figters. I can’t think of stuff for germany Russia and Britain. I hope this idea isn’t stupid (note you go into phases with the amtotic bomb thing)

  • Actually you on the right track!
I also made a list of new, unlockable technologies for both Axis and Allies that I use in place of the old technologies. The problem is that the technology in regular A&A is hardly used since it’s either hit or miss. However, with progressive technologies and research development there’s a much greater chance of achieving a “breakthrough.” There are also many Nation “specific” technologies like the Atomic Bomber (USA), Industrial Production (USSR), V-2 Rockets (Germ), Better Navy (Jap), and Sonar/Radar (UK).

  • Heavy bombers and Industrial Tech are incredibly powerful, but I wouldnt mind having any of the techs.

  • Hey Moses, could you post the specifics of your tech system? I have also been toying with other systems in my head because the original system just, well, sucks.

  • Yanny,

    Same here!

" Hey Moses, could you post the specifics of your tech system? I have also been toying with other systems in my head because the original system just, well, sucks."

Sure  Just look for them later tonight when I have enough time to proper prepare them. Do you have e-mail? If so, what is it so I can send it to you.

  • Yeah, you can find a lot of ideas for different techs out there. I think Kremlin has a lot of that kinda thing.

  • USED CORRECTLY SUPERBOMBERS ARE THE ATOMIC BOMB AND ARE A GAME ENDER. WHAT YOU NEED IS SUPER AA GUNS TO SHOOT THE BASTARDS DOWN. JUST THINK WHAT 5 SUPER BOMBERS BO TO A NAVY. WHAT NAVY IS RIGHT. PLANNED RIGHT GERMANY OR THE U.S. COULD ROLL 6 DIE A TURN FOR SUPER BOMBERS HOW LONG WOULD IT BE?

  • Usually this isn’t a problem if you adapt Axis and Allies European Style SBRs. They’re a definite plus in the way that they historically show the deadly gauntlet between interceptors and bombers and add a whole new dimension and complexity to the game.

  • weasel281@yahoo.com
Man, all those CAPITAL LETTERS are giving me a headache.

  • Ok, thanks. But before I send. Do you have Microsoft Word Processor?

  • It’s more like Microsoft has me…but yes, for the small price of my soul Bill Gates let’s me use his software.

  • Koo… You should recieve my e-mail by the end of this week

  • Giving Germany Panzer tanks as its upgrade would also work and giving the Soviet union T35/85 tanks also works. Britain could get its “wonderful” Matilda infantry support tanks. Their upgrade could be that they carry infantry so it’s easier to move infantry from one place to another.

  • My username didnt work for some reason.

  • I seem to be appearing as Anonymous on this thread. Weird. It was EmuGod posting for any of you who wish to bash me for any reason. I like the Industrial development and the bombers. I still havnt found out what Rockets do.

  • The problem with upgradable units is that you have to keep track of them. Also most players will only choose between one set of units or the other.

  • I like IT and HB. Forget the rest!

The gang I play wif limits the HBs to one unit and uses the A&AE SBR rules(FTR escort and interceptors). Try it! That way HBs are not a game winning foregone conclusion. Another thing we like to do is make tech a two roll/two turn thing, sothe other side has a chance to counter(espionage [Ha! Ha!]) First try pay 1(up to 3) IPC to roll(up to 3 chances) - roll a 2-6 negative research results(try again some other time) - roll a 1 and you have a first stage breakthrough - but you must wait another turn - whenever you try again pay 3 IPC per second stage research(gov’ts. spend more when they see results)to roll one die - roll a 4-6 negative research results(try again some other time) - roll a 1-3 and you have a first stage breakthrough - You may also try again at this time for other first stage successes - Mark them on the chart with one national chit for first stage development and two chits for a second stage development.
The cost is often about the same or more, but easier to digest as it comes in smaller pieces.
Note: You may wish to limit research to Germany, Japan, and USA for financial/fanatical reasons.
